What is Six Chix all about?

Six Chix is a unique daily comic strip. It is created by six women cartoonists who each draw a day of the week, and then rotate Sundays. Isabella Bannerman draws Mondays, Margaret Shulock draws Tuesdays, Rina Piccolo Wednesdays, Anne Gibbons Thursdays, Benita Epstein Fridays, and Stephanie Piro Saturdays. Each cartoonist writes and draws with her own style and perspective. On any week, you might find gags about the economy, technology, zombies, pirates, or health care—and the characters will be female and funny.

Six Chix was the brain child of the late Jay Kennedy who in 2000, when Six Chix was launched, was the editor of King Features. He made it his mission to be on the lookout for new cartoonists, and to try and bring more women creators and readers to the comics. Six Chix helped him achieve these goals. Continuing with editor Brendan Burford, Six Chix launched their blog, thesixchix.com in 2008, and celebrated their 10th anniversary with a seminar at the National Cartoonists Society Reubens weekend in Jersey City, New Jersey.
