We have a scoop, by way of Mikey Sutton, regarding the next big Thanos level villain in the MCU. It looks like Galactus is going to be that villain!

MCU Plans For Galactus

According to Mikey’s sources, Marvel's aiming for the idea of saving the big confrontation with Galactus for Fantastic Four 3. There is no script or filmmakers attached, but they are actively outlining where they want to go. They're planning to build him up over different movies, culminating in the third Fantastic Four film, but that's not all. Sutton also indicates that that will just be the beginning. Galactus is actually being planned for an even larger role in a Secret Wars story arc.

Kevin Feige is not kidding about them having plans for films ten years out!

Silver Surfer, the first herald

Initially, the Silver Surfer will accompany Galactus as his herald. He will be going before him throughout the cosmos to find suitable planets for him to consume. The Silver Surfer will eventually turn on him, and the herald position will be taken up by Frankie Raye. She will be imbued with the power cosmic and have her name changed to Nova.

A new kind of herald: Nova (Frankie Raye)

In the comics, Frankie Raye is the girlfriend of the Human Torch. She gains similar abilities as the Torch due to a chemical accident (that's the abbreviated explanation).  After this accident, she briefly fights alongside the Fantastic Four as a quasi-member. Finally, in Fantastic Four 244 she offers herself to Galactus as his new herald. He accepts and her powers are enhanced exponentially with the power cosmic.

She claims that she is not bothered in the least with the idea of finding planets inhabited with alien life for Galactus to consume. Galactus remarks that this callousness is actually a suitable motivation for his herald. Too many heralds that he has chosen in the past have had noble hearts that were ill-suited for such a role.Galactus

Silver Surfer vs Nova

This could be an interesting juxtaposition for Marvel Studios to explore. The Silver Surfer starts off as a villain and turns good, while Nova, Frankie Raye, starts out good and becomes something of a villain. At least for a portion of the story. Meanwhile, in the center, both of their stories would revolve around the grey morality of Galactus. Grey in the sense of his preference to consume uninhabited planets to sustain himself, if suitable ones can be found. However, if one is not found in time, he will necessarily consume planets with life even in the process billions perish.

Galactus

Final Thoughts

It sounds like Galactus will be comic accurate in design, not a cosmic cloud-like in Fox's Fantastic Four:  Rise of The Silver Surfer. I personally hope they do not skip over the other characters who were heralds of Galactus between Silver Surfer and Nova Frankie Raye. I am thinking of Firelord and Terrax, but that they find a way to work in those characters stories as well because there is a lot of opportunity for good material there.

Would you guys like to see them work in Firelord, Terrax, and Morg into the MCU movies? These guys are powerful enough to each be the main villain in individual movies across the MCU leading up to Fantastic Four 3!

Let me know in the comments what you would like to see.
