In recent weeks, a new batch of Knull rumors has been making the social media rounds. The idea is that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are co-producing another Spider-Man film with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. Picking up where the No Way Home mid-credits scene left off, the gossip has it that the plot would revolve around the Venom symbiote infecting Holland’s Peter Parker, kicking off the black suit saga. By the end, the three Spider-Men (and possibly Venom) would join forces to fend off an invading Knull.
It’s not uncommon for Knull movie speculation to circulate, and this simply could be the latest rumor that doesn’t come to fruition. Then again, NWH and the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are proving that anything is possible in the MCU, and that is fueling prices for these key issues.
VENOM #3 THIRD PRINT
The reigning undisputed champion of Knull keys remains the third print of Venom #3. Besides the print run being smaller, what makes this issue so important is it features Knull on the cover art for the first time.
As collectors fully know, cover hunting is a major subset of the hobby. In this case, the first cover appearance is more valuable than the first full appearance.
No doubt, this will be the first issue buyers target thanks to the latest round of Knull rumors.
VENOM #1 FIRST PRINT
Not far behind the third print in terms of popularity is the Venom #3 first print.
The standard edition has long been a favorite of Knull fans for obvious reasons, but the rise of the third print could push its predecessor to new height.
As those third-print prices continue to inflate, many buyers will shift their focus to the standard edition first print because it is cheaper.
THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #6
When Christian Bale was cast as Gorr the God Butcher for the fourth Thor film, it sparked a wave of buying for the character’s first appearance in God of Thunder #6.
Savvy collectors know there is something even more important inside those pages, and that is the first appearance of Knull. He wasn’t named in this issue, but what would become the God of the Symbiotes is officially in this issue, and it makes it Knull’s first cameo appearance.
With all the speculation for the King in Black, this issue will only get more expensive.
THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #2
As you gather your Knull keys, don’t overlook God of Thunder #2. Since this issue doesn’t have a character’s first appearance, it flies under the radar in terms of FMV. What makes it special is its ties to Knull and Thor: Love and Thunder.
GOT #2 featured the debut of Knull’s Necrosword, which was picked up by Gorr the God Butcher four issues later. Odds are we will see the Necrosword in Love and Thunder, and that should cause a buying surge for this issue.
WE WANT KNULL!
All the Knull rumors, whether even remotely true or completely fabricated, point to one thing: fans want the God of the Symbiotes in a movie. Whether that comes in the Venom franchise, the MCU, or Sony’s Spider-Verse spinoffs (or perhaps all three), there is a growing fan outcry to bring Knull into the land of live-action.
Sooner or later, the pieces will come together, so keep an eye on his key issues.
