OK, so Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, and Lucky the Pizza Dog all debut on the new Disney+ show, which is scheduled to land at the end of November, 2021.  Several of Kate Bishop's key issues have already popped in value, but are there still opportunities for Hawkeye spec even now?  Let's consider some possibilities.

The Obvious Hawkeye Keys

There's Kate Bishop's first appearance in Young Avengers #1.  This issue looks like it has peaked with -3.8% trend for a graded 9.8 which is valued at a $1000.  (I still get sticker shock when I check recent sales of some key issues).

In the 2005 Young Avengers series, there are a few standouts in value: Young Avengers #10 with Kate on the cover and a 1st appearance of Tommy Shepherd, the son of Scarlet Witch who becomes Speed in Young Avengers #12.  A 9.8 of Young Avengers #10 will run you $500, currently.   Speaking of Young Avengers #12, it is valued at $260 for a 9.8. Then, there's Young Avengers #6, the debut of Kate Bishop's Hawkeye costume and the 1st appearance of Cassie Lang as Stature.

Daredevil #9, the first appearance of Echo (a spin-off character) has already gone and exploded in value.  A 9.8 will run you $750 currently.

Young Avengers #6, #10, and #12 have not peaked yet and are all showing around +100% trend right now.  So, there might be some meat on the bone with those three issues, but I don't think for long.

The Not So Obvious Hawkeye Spec Possibilities

Here are some overlooked spec opportunities for your consideration.

Young Avengers Presents #6 (2008)

I like the cover.  This issue has the first meeting of Clint Barton and Kate, and Clint approves of Kate Bishop using the code name of Hawkeye.

This issue is still climbing in value with a 9.8 going for $300 and a +130% trend.  That is strong going into the Hawkeye show.

Hawkeye #1 (1983)

This first issue of a four-issue mini-series is staying strong.  A 9.8 is at $180 with a strong +90% trend.  I think the ripples from the Disney+ Hawkeye show have caused this older book to get on the radar, and people are jumping aboard.

Hawkeye #1 (2012)

This book kicks off a great series by Matt Fraction that is worth checking out as a great read.  But also. this issue contains the first appearance of Lucky the Pizza Dog!  (Played by Jolt, a golden retriever, in the Disney+ show--great actor!)

You've got to love Lucky and his first appearance numbers show the love.  A 9.8 is hovering at $210 with about an +80% trend.

Hawkeye #9 (2013)

Although there has been lots of buzz about the second printing of this issue, and it has gotten pretty pricey due to low numbers ordered/printed, I think the play is the regular first printing.  The issue has a great cover and has the first cameo of the Clown, a key villain.  Also, a 9.8 is at $160 with a very nice +76% upward trend.

The Bottom Line

We all know the drill by now.  Show/movie announced, clues/rumors given, spec bought, and flipped before the show/movie comes out.  However, Hawkeye has some potential longevity because of the Echo character spin-off, and that it might not be a one-season and done.

My top spec pick still in the mix?  Hawkeye #1 (2012).  I'm going with Lucky the Pizza Dog.  It's a dog, it's pizza, and it's his first appearance in Hawkeye #1 (2012)!

"Clint, I think you and me are the person we both wish we could be.  And I know that person...I know that person is worth something.  I know that person can...can pretty much do anything."   Kate Bishop
