By now, it is old news that Marvel/Disney will be bringing Kang the Conqueror to the big screen in Ant Man 3.  In September of 2020, it was revealed that Jonathan Majors will play Kang in the third installment of the Ant Man franchise.

Kang the Conqueror + Inhumans = a great investment.

Are you wondering who that blue-faced villain is? Kang is a time-traveling super-villain without classic superpowers. Still, he has all the technology and armies that being the master of time can provide.  Since appearing in Fantastic Four #19 (as Rama-Tut) he has tangled with the strongest of the Marvel Universes heroes.  He has a unique code of honor and plays right into the quantum time travel that could give birth to a whole new run of fantastic movies.

Inhumans Cometh.

The Inhumans are a gold mine of character and story lines for Marvel.  Go Collect Blogger Don Y makes a good case that we should all pay attention to any Inhuman appearance books, including their first appearance in Fantastic Four #45.  I have been keeping an eye on the Inhumans since their existence became the main thread to the popular show, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The show could have evolved into a poor version of the X-Files but instead it spent several seasons exploring the origins of Inhumans as well as finding and battling a variety of Inhumans.  it was popular enough to run 8 seasons.  The Inhumans will get a burst of attention from the new Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel, aka Pakistani-American teenager Kamala Khan.

Kang Keys?

From Thor to Spider-Man, Kang has tangled with a lot of heroes from the Marvel Universe. But his focus often has centered on the Avengers.  Avengers #8, with the classic cover featuring Kang, is the classic purchase.  A review of the sales data at Go Collect shows that for many grades (from 6.0 - 9.0) of this book, the values have generally doubled since last September.  Go Collect Blogger Matt Tuck does a fantastic job pointing out other books that could see further value growth in his recent blog.

Uncanny Inhumans #0-4 Has It All.

But Matt missed is what I believe is an obvious winner.  There is undiscovered gold in The Uncanny Inhumans issues #0-4 (2015).  This storyline by Charles Soule focuses on Kang taking (being given) Ahura, the son of Black Bolt and Medusa.  Issue #2 features Kang on the cover of the standard edition. The cover and story artwork is by Steve McNiven. (One of the very best Canada has given to the comic industry alongside young industry influencers like Mariko Tamaki and Fiona Staples.) It is fantastic.

There are lots of opportunities to speculate on the rise of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. Too many to go chasing all the appearances.  In this Uncanny Inhumans series you get not only Kang, but a key Inhumans story line in Ahura's connection to Kang.  Here is the best part. This book is ridiculously undervalued and under inventoried.  A 9.8 graded book was recently sold for $34. Before this sale, there was virtually no action in this book since right after its publication.  It is only a matter of time until people discover this multi-faceted bargain.  In addition to all the speculation potential, this is a darn good story with great artwork.

Conclusion

To be a great investment, a comic must have great art, a great story and a key element of some sort.  Books of this caliber are in significant demand and rise in value.  Uncanny Inhumans #2 is a book you have to buy now, while the entry price is reasonable.  Marvel has told us that Kang is definately coming. The Inhumans continue to be a huge part of the Marvel slate of stories and shows. Why not invest in having it all when you can?
