Investing On A Budget: Young AvengersHello everyone, and welcome to the next installment of Investing On A Budget!  The goal of this article series is to provide investors and speculators with low-cost ways to invest in hot properties within the comic book community.  The focus of this article: The Young Avengers!

Who Are the Young Avengers?

Investing On A Budget: Young Avengers

The Young Avengers, as the name would suggest, are a group of young heroes who have modeled themselves after specific members of the Avengers.  The original members were Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Hulkling, Kate Bishop, Stature, and Speed, with later lineups also featuring Marvel Boy, Young Loki, and America Chavez.  If those names sound familiar, it is because damn near all of them have recently appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This has led to a lot of interest from speculators in YA books, as it seems like Marvel is introducing the characters in order to set up a crossover/team of some kind.  The point of this article is to try to provide investors with opportunities to invest in a team that will not break the bank.  Enjoy!

Young Avengers Vol. 2 #1

Investing On A Budget: Young Avengers

I really do not understand how this book is still as cheap as it is.  Any MCU version of the Young Avengers would almost certainly include America Chavez.  That means this book has a very clear path to profitability.  Furthermore, #1 titles tend to be the first things to go whenever there is any kind of MCU news, so investors could easily take advantage of FOMO.

With many comic book prices trending downward, now is a great time to snatch this book up and hold it until the market can rally back.

Young Avengers Presents

Following the original Young Avengers series, Marvel published a series of books that shined a spotlight on each of the individual members.  The Young Avengers have not existed in comics all that long and do not have a particularly large number of books to their name.  As a result, early appearances like these have a decent amount of value, especially in terms of fleshing out the characters and getting into what makes them tick.

These books also have fairly low print runs and are very well done, and it is rarely a bad idea to invest in low print run, high-quality books for in-demand characters.

Marvel Flip Magazine #14 and Young Avengers #1 Not For Resale Variant

Investing On A Budget: Young Avengers

These books are not exactly cheap, but they represent great alternatives for those not willing or able to shell out the money for Young Avengers #1.

They will never reach the lofty heights that I believe YA #1 is capable of, but that doesn't mean they cannot still generate a healthy return.

Young Avengers Vol. 2 #5

This book marks the first full and united appearance of the second Young Avengers team.  If the MCU incarnation of the team ends up more closely resembling the second team, this book could see an uptick in value.

Avengers: Children's Crusade Must-Haves

The rumor mill has been spinning up a storm of speculation on Young Avengers, both generally and when it comes to the Children's Crusade storyline.  The latter books have seen a large uptick in price as a result, making this book, which reprints the first three issues of Children's Crusade, a great alternate investment.

The book also has a fairly low print run, meaning the economic principle of scarcity is very much in play.  If you see this book, buy it with confidence.

New Avengers Vol. 4 #4

As I discussed in the Young Avengers Presents section, the YA are still fairly new to comics and, as a result, many of them have not reached their full potential.  Wiccan is a particularly great example of this, as he is prophesized to become the Demiurge, the magical messiah who will one day rewrite the fundamental laws of magic.

This storyline has only barely been explored but has the potential to eventually become the basis of a major story arc/crossover within the Marvel Universe.  Were that to happen, New Avengers Vol. 4 #4, which marks the first time the character went by the name Demiurge, would almost certainly see a big spike in value.

Conclusion

That’s all for this entry of Investing on a Budget!  Let me know of any other great budget YA books you can think of. Or if you have any suggestions for characters you’d like to see a writeup for.  Happy Hunting!
