Fishing in the blue sea.  Finding profits in books others do not even notice.  It can be risky, but it also can be profitable. Here are some ignored comic books I see that are drawing attention because of the GoCollect data.

Ignored Comic Book #1

The Sub-Mariner is making waves.  His early appearances in the Fantastic Four are heating up.  The reason is that throwaway line in the MCU about Wakanda and underwater earthquakes.  One book that investors and speculators appear to only now be noticing is X-Men #6. Remember that Namor is one of the earliest mutants in the Marvel Universe and in this book he joins Magneto and his team of evil mutants.  These ties may be important in the MCU.

What is interesting is this book is up 205 spots in the GoCollect hot Silver Age books at the time of this writing.  People focus on the Fantastic Four and his own title but do not forget this book.  This comic book is important because it places Namor with mutants.   Even with the aforementioned jump this book still did not crack the top 100.  This book is too important to be ignored and it won't be for long.

Ignored Book #2

Rumors of DC Comics' demise may be on the minds of comic book investors.  What is also in the minds of investors is a renewed interest in Silver Age DC Comics.  I am looking at the top 100 Silver Age books and I see that interest seems to be exploding for DC Comics.  Maybe the high prices and feeding frenzy of Marvel investors has finally forced some to chase other books long-neglected, but still valuable. I could list several books that have jumped at least two hundred spots but the book I want to focus on is Doom Patrol #99.  This issue is the first appearance of Teen Titans mainstay Beast Boy. A great character who has already appeared in cartoons and on TV.  Could an appearance in a movie be far behind?

Another comic people are focused on is DC Comics Presents #26. This hot book is one most collectors have difficulty finding.  Not too long ago this book wasn't even in GoCollect's top 700, but as of this writing, it jumped over 427 spots.  This book is heating up and I know several people who believe this is a key book that is not drawing the attention it deserves.  Raven, Starfire and Cyborg oh my!!!!

Ignored Book #3

Everyone is looking for the first appearances of mutants.  Rumor is that they MIGHT one day end up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  I know it is very speculative but one day we might see Wolverine in an MCU movie, right?   Being serious now, but rumors of Rogue appearing in Captain Marvel drove her first appearances up in value.  Rumors and speculation can do that to books.

One important book that is not drawing attention is a non-first appearance first appearance. Amazing Adventures #11 is the first appearance of Beast in his mutated form that most fans recognize. You can try to get his true first appearance but that will cost you some money.  Sadly this book is a key and yet most people have ignored it.   I bought mine years ago on a bid I thought I would never win because it was well below the FMV.  Imagine my surprise when I won the auction with no further bids.  This book is important and desired by collectors.  As of today's writing, this book does not even merit being on GoCollect's top 400 and is still dropping.  This book is important and is not out of the reach of many reading this article.  Remember the lesson learned from Rogue and get this book before others start to take notice.

Better Sooner than Later

When you fish in the blue ocean others will watch you.  You make a great catch and others will soon follow you.  Right now the time is right to buy some books that are not hot but still are moving in the markets.  Cast your line now before others hook those books that are currently being ignored.
