idw_publishing IDW announces 2010 SDCC panel scheduleMedia Release — This year, IDW will be hosting an array of entertaining panels at San Diego Comic-Con. Beginning on Thursday, talented writers, editors, and artists will join together to share their passion for comics in a variety of discussions. Each panel will offer exclusive insight about current and upcoming projects, including some unexpected announcements.

Start the Con off with “From Screen to Comics” on Thursday, focusing on transitioning a property from the film into 32 pages, including a look at the new True Blood series and details about what’s in store for the future. Then on Friday, don’t miss a discuss of IDW’s Hasbro series, featuring IDW editors Andy Schmidt and Denton Tipton, plus a bevy of creators all discussing TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE.

On Saturday, get an inside look at what IDW has in store for 2011 at IDW: Infestation 2011. Later that day, prose writers such as Max Brooks, Mario Acevedo and more will talk about their experiences of bringing their works into comics in the panel “From Words to Pictures.” And an intriguing panel will have an in-depth discussion looking at the role of the military in comics, featuring several famous veteran creators, including Larry Hama and Mario Acevedo.

Round out the weekend with Macworld Senior Editor Jason Snell, IDW’s director of ePublishing, Jeff Webber and more for a lively discussion on the digital age of comics.

2:30-3:30 From Words to Pictures – There’s been an increasing array of prose writers bringing their works to comics, or just writing comics in addition to novels. Hear from some of the best about why they love working in the comics medium. Including Alex Irvine, Max Brooks, Mario Acevedo, Chris Ryall, Steve Niles, and Peter David! Room 5AB

4:30-5:30 Military in Comics – Don’t miss this in-depth and pertinent discussion examining the role of military stories and creators. Larry Hama, Mario Acevedo, and Billy Tucci share their real world experiences with war, and how it influences their work. Moderated by Marine Corps veteran and IDW editor Tom Waltz and Chris Mowry.
