NOTE: This post contains rumors and mild spoilers for upcoming DC and Marvel projects on screen. Proceed with caution.

Analyzing the Hottest Silver Age Comics of the last 30 days is a case study of both what lies behind us and what lies ahead. Three of the five books below are comprised of books speculating on news from upcoming projects announced and rumored to be on the big screen. Another book on the list is related to previous Spider-Man franchise films. These movies and future projects are still driving speculation and Silver Age books are rising because of it.

Here are the five highest risers among Silver Age books in the past month.

19. Detective Comics #359 (+77)

There is a clear connection from Point A to Point B for this hot comic. HBO Max will release their BatGirl TV show later this year and we just got our first glimpse of Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, AKA Batgirl. DC #359 is the first appearance of the new BatGirl and the introduction of Barbara Gordon.

This news, and particularly the images, catapulted this comic to near the top of the charts.

Looking at the GoCollect sales database, almost every grade of this book has a higher 90-day fair market value (FMV) than the 1-year value.  At the high end, a CGC 9.2 copy sold for $7,425 last month when it was just $6,300 less than two years ago. The 90-day FMV of a 50th percentile CGC 5.5 is currently $1,415 when it sold for just $800 in February 2021.

10. Incredible Hulk #102 (+42)

It's a similar story with Incredible Hulk #102 as rumors and stories heat up for the She-Hulk series and all things Hulk. The latest rumors are that some kind of World War Hulk project is in the works at Marvel Studios.

Mark Ruffalo will be all over the She-Hulk series and the thought is he has never helmed his own MCU standalone project. That could change now that we have intelligent Hulk in the MCU, which would allow Ruffalo's acting chops and humor to shine through.

As the first issue of the new Hulk comic line (Incredible Hulk was canceled after six issues and then resurfaced in Tales to Astonish 59-101), this comic is heating up for its significance in the Hulk canon.

The high-end grades of this book are the issues that have really been blowing up. There are 145 blue and yellow label CGC 9.4 copies out there and one just sold for $2,695. Just one year ago, that price tag was $1,250 and less than $1,000 in 2020.

47. Amazing Spider-Man #4 (+35)

What more needs to be said about one of the more iconic Amazing Spider-Man issues we have? Sandman may have been relegated to third-tier status in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but his status as one of the premier key issues in Marvel history is unchanged.

Is there news driving this popularity? Not really. But all things Spider-Man continue to ride the wave of interest from the movie and renewed desire for more Spider-Verse. Be prepared to open up your wallet wide if you plan on investing in this book.

The 50th percentile of this book is around CGC 4.5. The most recent sale of that grade was early March for $2,475. That represents a $400-$600 increase in sales just from February of this year. The FMV is slightly down from the peak in the second half of 2021 due to movie rumors; it's still quite a bounce from where this book was one year ago (around $1,500).

63. Avengers #47 (+34)

All things Black Knight and Dane Whitman are picking up steam with this whole horror/dark turn that Marvel and the MCU keep forecasting. With Blade, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and Ghost Rider all in place or rumored to appear, the darker side of Marvel is certainly coming.

Whitman's character, of course, was introduced in The Eternals movie and was featured in the post-credits stinger with the Ebony Blade. How that will be woven into the timeline is unknown, but it's coming.

Even with recent price hikes, the upper grades of this book remain somewhat reasonable for a 55-year-old key. CGC 8.0 copies are selling for over $500 now when they were under $350 one year ago. If you want in on this book at a lower grade, a CGC 5.0  is still only around $250 and hasn't changed much over the past 12 months.

44. Fantastic Four #4 (+33)

If I asked you to predict the top five hottest Silver Age comics based on recent news, I bet FF #4 would come up perhaps more than any others. As the first Silver Age appearance of Namor, the Sub-Mariner, this Fantastic Four key issue is an absolute gem to own right now.

In what has been one of the worst-kept secrets in MCU history, it has leaked that Namor is likely the "primary antagonist" for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This will send many Namor key issues to the moon in terms of value, and what was an already expensive book as one of the first Marvel "villains" introduced is now out of reach for many investors.

One of the few CGC 8.0 copies in the world sold in early April for $19,800 at Heritage Auctions. The same copy sold for $15,600 just seven months ago in September 2021. On the more "affordable" end, a CGC 1.8 copy set records in March for selling for $2,640 when it was $1,920 in August.
