Collectors were diving deeper into their searches this week with a couple of surprising issues piquing their curiosities.

It’s time again to delve into the Hottest Searches on the GoCollect database. Based on the search terms, this blog gives you a look at what topics and specific issues collectors were keeping on their radar. While staple issues, like Superman #1 and Something Is Killing the Children #1, ruled the top 10 most searched terms, there were some interesting findings a bit further down the rankings. See for yourself.

MARVEL FEATURE #4

The most likely culprit behind Marvel Feature #4’s appearance on this week’s list is the return of Hank Pym. During the early and mid ‘60s, he would switch between calling himself Ant-Man and Giant-Man. Toward the end of the decade, Pym changed costumes entirely and went by Yellowjacket.

It was in 1972’s Marvel Feature #4 that he returned to the Ant-Man role. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on the horizon, collectors may be thinking we’ll see Hank Pym as Ant-Man, and that would account for this issue being among the hottest searches.

X-FORCE #116

There’s a lot for collectors to love about X-Force #116. This issue is getting more popular thanks to the first appearances of X-Statix—namely, Doop, Zeitgeist, Coach, Gin Genie, Anarchist, U-Go Girl, Battering Ram, La Nuit, Plazm, and Sluk.

Last year, James Gunn dropped a Doop reference and picture on social media, which has since raised awareness for the tongue-in-cheek comedy team. The truth is, they would fit squarely within the current MCU, so there’s definitely potential for them in live action.

MOON KNIGHT #1

Moon Knight’s first season may have come and gone, but we can be sure that he’s not done with the MCU. Nothing has been said about season two, though most fans are certain it will eventually happen, but how will he fit into the larger MCU picture? Will he join the Avengers or another team? Could he appear in Blade?

There are many directions Marvel Studios could go with his character, and that is what is surely inspiring an increase in searches for Moon Knight #1.

STRANGE TALES #169

This may be the most interesting choice on today’s Hot Searches. Strange Tales #169 marks the first appearance of what could be a future MCU star, Brother Voodoo. When Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was first announced, there was rampant speculation that Voodoo would appear in that film. Obviously, that wasn’t the case, but he is almost certainly going to be in the MCU in the not-too-distant future.

When that day comes, this issue will kick in the afterburners, and that is a great reason for collectors to have been searching for Strange Tales #169 this week.

X-MEN #131

Wrapping up this week’s selections, we have a heavily rumored character for the MCU’s brand of X-Men. Emma Frost, the White Queen herself, made her debut in X-Men #129. However, she was featured on her first cover in X-Men #131, and it has become the more iconic image because of that. In fact, it’s often times mistaken for the first appearance due to that famous cover art.

At any rate, this is a superb addition to any X-collection, especially with her being an odds-on favorite to be in the MCU mix.
