You may not have noticed on first glance at the Hottest Comics, but the Robin King and Daredevil are hot in comic trends this week. This is a weekly update so if you missed last week's check it out.

There’s more to the index than just the top sellers. Peel back the layers, and you will find some intriguing trends that could help you turn a profit. Take a look.

THE DARKEST KNIGHT AND THE ROBIN KING

The Darkest Knight (aka, the Batman Who Laughs) and his twisted protégé have taken the DC Universe by storm. This week, two of those Robin King key issues found their way into the top 15. Here’s more.

13. DARK NIGHTS DEATH METAL: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHTS #1 STANDARD COVER (+3)

Comic TrendsThe higher ranking of the two keys did not see much movement, but it was enough to push it from the top 20 to the top 15. What that means is that it has remained a consistently popular seller.

Collectors want this issue because it gave readers their first full look at this new, evil version of Robin. Not only that, but it featured the evolution of the Batman Who Laughs into the Darkest Knight. Think of him as the BWL merged with Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan.

Speaking of BWL, his first full appearance in Teen Titans #12 rocketed into the top 100, gaining 229 spots and ranking 35th overall.

18. DARK KNIGHTS: DEATH METAL #3 FEDERICI VARIANT (+647)

Comic TrendsDeath Metal #3 does not have any major firsts, but it does show us how demented the Robin King can be as he torments the Justice League. What makes this issue collectible is the fantastic cover art. Riccardo Federici outdid himself with what will surely be the iconic image of the Robin King going forward.

COMIC TRENDS: DAREDEVIL

Even before DD #25 sold out on new comic book day this week, collectors were speculating on the Man Without Fear. All the changes happening in the current Chip Zdarsky run could be fueling these sales, which are quietly adding up to big numbers. The other piece to the puzzle are the persistent rumors that Daredevil will team with Spider-Man in the third Homecoming film.

Whatever the reason, there is cause to watch these DD key issues.

110. DAREDEVIL #7 (+890)

It is easy to overlook DD #7, which featured the debut of his iconic red devil costume. Aside from his first appearance, this is one of the more collectible Silver Age Daredevil issues on the market.

With it being ranked 100, many speculators may miss the fact that it gained almost 900 positions in the past week. Now that the DD title has regained its popularity, there could be more to come for this issue.

115. SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #27 (+315)

Comic TrendsKeep digging through the rankings, and we find a couple of titles from the classic Frank Miller era. Although they are outside the top 100, both Spectacular Spider-Man #27 and DD #184  gained over 300 positions each, and that is worth your attention.

What makes these issues special? Spectacular #27 was the first published Daredevil artwork by the man who took Matt Murdock to the next level, Frank Miller. Since DD and Spider-Man are both on the cover, could the DD/Spider-Man movie rumors be blamed for the sales spike?

Landing in 119th place is DD #184. First of all, it has one of the more famous covers from the Miller era and it encapsulated the run in the words of Alice Cooper, “No more Mister Nice Guy.” It also marked the first team up between DD and the Punisher.

237. DAREDEVIL #16 (+762)

As we move outside the top 200, more Daredevil issues made noticeable gains in the past week. There is Matt Murcock’s first appearance in his yellow and block costume in Daredevil #1, which settled into the top 200 a of the time of this writing. This is the holy grail for any DD fan, so it makes sense to see this issue on the way up. More interesting is DD #16.

The first official meeting of Daredevil and Spider-Man occurred in Amazing Spider-Man #16. Two years later, Spider-Man would make his first appearance in the DD title. This time, Spidey is on the cover with Daredevil sporting his classic red attire. There is little doubt that this issue picked up the sales pace thanks to those Homecoming movie rumors. It is unlikely they will pan out, but if they do, this will be a hot issue.
