Family legend has it Corona-born John Narcomey Jr. began his drawing career at age 3. Of course back then it was on the walls, the backs of grocery bags, etc.

It wasn't until years later that his talent translated to comic book illustration. Now his company, High Tower Comics, is set to release the first books in two new series, "Jungle Jive" and "Ghost Face." High Tower Comics will begin shipping pre-orders Nov. 7.

The characters in the first two books were created by Narcomey.

"I drew, wrote and created the story lines," he said. "It's life ... people I know, jokes, moments. You get the characters in there and they tell the story for you."

The comics are eclectic, Narcomey said.

"'Jungle Jive' is Looney Tunes and screwball ... the other is operatic pulp fiction with the main shadow-like character.

"It all comes from my life. ... No matter what's happening, it's always going to come across."
