Copies Still Available at Comic Shops Nationwide as BOOM! Studios Evaluates Second Printings

July 7th, 2008 (Los Angeles, CA) -- After generating tremendous amounts of praise from critics and fans alike, BOOM! Studios' HIGH ROLLERS #1 and STATION #1 have completely sold out.

While the comics can no longer be obtained from Diamond Comics Distributor, HIGH ROLLERS #1 and STATION #1 may still be found at direct market retailers.

"You can't have my copies, but there are sure to be issues still available in comic shops," said Chip Mosher, Director of Marketing and Sales at BOOM! Studios. "With all the hype online, both titles have seen unprecedented success. And this is only just the beginning for these great series."

"It's not surprising to me that both titles have been such hits," said Ross Richie, Publisher and Co-Founder of BOOM! Studios. "BOOM! prides itself on giving top talent a chance to tell compelling stories with the help of fantastic artists. With an aggressive marketing campaign designed to expose the traditional comic crowd to non-traditional comic stories, HIGH ROLLERS and STATION were almost guaranteed to sell out."

HIGH ROLLERS and STATION aren't the first BOOM! series to sell out this year. Both debut issues of THE FOUNDATION and NORTH WIND sold out soon after release and have been sought after by fans ever since.

BOOM! Studios is working closely with Diamond Comics Distributor in evaluating the demand for a second printing of both STATION and HIGH ROLLERS #1.

HIGH ROLLERS spotlights Cameron Quinn, "CQ," a ruthless enforcer out to make a name for himself, as chronicled by crime writer Gary Phillip, who shines a harsh light on the action and drama of the L.A. underworld.

A blitzkrieg press tour has accompanied Phillips' new series debut. In addition to being spotlighted in an article by Publisher's Weekly, Phillips recently took readers on the first part of a four-part tour of his hometown Los Angeles. "Gary Phillips: The L.A. of High Rollers" part 1 of 4 premiered exclusively last week on Comic Book Resources:

Phillips was also recently interviewed by Greg Rucka at Newsarama (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=155241) and called into Comixology for a featured podcast about the series (http://www.comixology.com/podcasts/48/High-Rollers-with-Gary-Phillips).

About HIGH ROLLERS, critics have praised:

"Gary Phillips' sure pacing keeping it moving along." - Hannibal Tabu, THE BUY PILE, Comic Book Resources

"Exactly what an introductory comic is supposed to do." - Comics Waiting Room

"Intelligently written... one of those things you'll be glad to have gotten in on at the beginning." - Project Fanboy

"4 our of 5 stars - a strong debut." - Comixtreme

Phillips previously wrote the comics series ANGEL TOWN for Vertigo as well as SHOT CALLERZ and MIDNIGHT MOVER for Oni Press, but he is best known for a series of mystery novels featuring private eye Ivan Monk. He's also currently writing CITIZEN KANG, a weekly prose political thriller hosted on The Nation's Web site.

Written by Gary Phillips and drawn by Sergio Carrera, HIGH ROLLERS debuted in early July.

Since the release BOOM! Studios' new mystery series STATION by Johanna Stokes, critics across the internet have raved:

"STATION is a must add to your reading list." - Comics Bulletin

"This is a screenplay-like fare, a movie waiting to happen... the dialogue is tight, and the tension-building occurs almost through osmosis - you know something bad's coming. Characters are established subtly, and when the murder takes place, it's visually evocative...space freaks will be in heaven... 4 stars." - SFX Magazine

"absolutely killer... this is quite good." -- Comics Should Be Good

"Station #1 is easily among the best comics we've read this year, and it definitely makes us want to see more of her work." - Scoop

"...really great..." - Ain't It Cool News

STATION is the creation of Johanna Stokes, writer of the EUREKA TV episodes "Right as Raynes" and "Purple Haze," with art by newcomer Leno Carvalho. A four-issue monthly mini-series that began this June, STATION explores murder at the extreme edges of the earth. STATION debuted in late June.
