For decades, people young and old have been playing video games. From Atari to Playstation, there’s certainly a video game for every collector! With graded games, collectors can take their collection to the next level. Heritage holds a Mini-Boss Select auction weekly, featuring some fine examples of collectible video games.

Xenophobe

If you're a fan of the movie Aliens, chances are the box art caught your eye. Xenophobes was originally an arcade game from Bally-Midway and was released to several platforms in the late 1980s, including the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Atari 2600, and the Lynx. The game capitalized on the popular science fiction Aliens with its artwork, but the game had nothing to do with the movie. Xenophobe was well-received by critics and players and has been included in a handful of Bally-Midway anthology video games.

This sealed blue label CGC 9.6 A is sharp and features a round seal of quality. The one-year average for other 9.6 CGC-graded copies is $360. By comparison, a VGA 70 sold in January of 2022 for $500 -- so this game could very well go for around $500. This is a cool game for collectors and should be on your watch list.

Futurama

I'm always delighted when I see this video game pop up in an auction. This game is a grail for Futurama fans, as the cut scenes create an entire unaired episode. Futurama: The Lost Episode, can also be found on the DVD movie, Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs, but without the references to the episode being in a video game. The game itself received mixed reviews, but it's become somewhat of a cult classic. The game was released for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 but was discontinued shortly after its release.

This sealed VGA 80 NM+ is a treat. The last time a VGA 80 sold was in January of 2021 for $350. However, the current one-year average of a 9.8 WATA-graded copy is $1,513, so it's possible this copy could go for more. If you're a Futurama fan or like to collect hard-to-find games, this is something to keep your eyes on.

Peter Pan and the Pirates

In September of 1990, Fox jumped into children's television with Peter Pan & the Pirates, alongside a few other early 1990s staples.  The show lasted for one season - or 65 episodes - before being canceled and sent to live on in syndication. The series was popular with fans thanks to the animation and voice work, which includes Tim Curry as Captain Hook! As with most kids' cartoons, there were tie-ins, including comic books and a video game. The video game was the first game THQ developed -- the company would go on to develop many more IP-based video games, mostly to mixed reviews.

This sealed blue label CGC 8.0 B+ is a unique find. I haven't seen many of these pop up in auctions graded or ungraded. There is little sales data for CGC-graded games, but an 8.5 WATA-graded copy has a one-year average of $276. If you collect unique or interesting games or minor grails, don't pass this one up.
