BurgerTime
Data East's BurgerTime arcade game was a hit with players in the early 1980s. In 1983 home ports for Intellivision and the Atari 2600, among others, hit store shelves. BurgerTime was a hit and is still enjoyed to this day thanks to the Arcade 1Up cabinet, which are inexpensive ways to get vintage-inspired arcade cabs into your home. The game is also in the Arcade Archives series, which can be found on the PlayStation 4.
This sealed 8.5 A++ WATA-graded copy is a great-looking copy and still has bright, bold colors on it. The one-year average for 8.5 copies is $200, so this could be possibly won for a steal!
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
The Simpsons have been the subject of a number of video games across multiple platforms. But one game, in particular, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, remains one of the most talked about Simpsons games. The game sold over 2 million units by the summer of 2007 and was generally praised for its gameplay, and how it mimicked an episode. The game itself is more off the wall than a normal Simpson's episode, but that's the fun of it. While some may say it's a Grand Theft Auto ripoff, it's one of the most delightful games of the early 2000s.
This sealed 9.6 A WATA-graded copy is almost perfect, but don't let the grade stop you. The one-year average for other 9.6 grades is $642, though prices have recently cooled, I don't think we'll see a downward trend on this game.
Toxic Crusader
The Toxic Avenger is an unconventional superhero film from 1984. Created by Troma Films' Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, this cult film gained minor mainstream popularity. Enough so that in 1991 a cartoon series loosely based on the movie -- The Toxic Crusaders -- was released. The one-season show did get its fair share of toys and a video game. This was my first introduction to The Toxic Avenger, which led me down the Troma rabbit hole before I ever hit middle school. The Toxic Crusader video game is a side-scrolling beat 'em' up game featuring everyone's favorite Avenger, Toxie.
This game is a grail for collectors and can fetch series money. This sealed 9.6 B+ WATA-graded copy for the Sega Genesis is seriously awesome. These don't come up too often. With a one-year average of $1,311, this could potentially be had for a good price. Interest in this game will continue to go up, so now would be the right time to buy.
Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue
It's hard to believe that Toy Story will be turning 30 in a few short years. The franchise has grown with us, with many of the toys we played with now being hot collector's items. With the release of every movie, there would be subsequent video games, and with Toy Story 2, fans got a Buzz Lightyear-focused game -- Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, a cross-platform single-player platformer. This copy is for the Nintendo 64, which got overall decent reviews. The game was a low-difficulty game (as the target audience is skewed younger), but it was still a fun, colorful game.
This sealed 8.5 A+ WATA-graded copy might not be on everyone's want list, but if you collect Disney video games, you may be able to get this for a steal. Currently, the only sales data is for 9.0 copies, which have a one-year average of $276. Here's hoping this goes home to the right buyer.
