Ah, Wilson Fisk. A personal favourite, the Kingpin is one of the most iconic Marvel villains ever, despite only appearing in two feature films (Daredevil and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). With rumours rumbling that the Kingpin will make his second MCU debut in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series this November, I think it is time to say: Here comes the Kingpin… Again!

Vincent D’Onofrio’s performance as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin was one of the major highlights of the Netflix Daredevil series. From 2015 to 2018, D’Onofrio terrified audiences with his complex, intricate and genuinely different interpretation of Kingpin.

When the series was canned, many (including myself) thought we had seen the last of D’Onofrio. However, with more rumours than I can count regarding the character’s reemergence in Hawkeye, as well as D’Onofrio’s suspicious tweets, it really is a matter of time until we see the Kingpin back where he belongs: Ruining the lives of New York’s finest superheroes! amazing_50_kingpin

Here Comes the Kingpin… Again!

The Kingpin made his comic book debut back in Amazing Spider-Man #50, without a doubt one of the most iconic comic book covers ever. Of course, if you were to invest in Kingpin, this would be the holy grail, the cream of the crop! That said, Amazing Spider-Man #50 isn’t exactly the cheapest comic around. Since the cancellation of the Netflix series, the book has declined in value. However, since rumours and speculation of Kingpin’s appearance in Hawkeye, the book has shot up once again, albeit not the highs of 2015-2018.

Over on mycomicshop.com, there are a handful of decent grades ranging from CGC 3.0 all the way to CGC 6.5. However, these are all above the FMV for their respective grades, as calculated by ourselves over here at GoCollect. As such, if you were to invest in Amazing Spider-Man #50, I’d take my wallet over to eBay, where you will find a few gems below the FMV.

Another Kingpin Key...

What many don’t think about is the Kingpin’s second appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #51. This comic also featured the debut of Robbie Robertson from the Daily Bugle. He's another character who could become a key player in the future of Spider-Man's cinematic adventures! On eBay, there are countless copies of this book in nearly every grade under the sun and for a fraction of the price of Amazing Spider-Man #50. We suggested eating up Amazing Spider-Man #51 back in December of 2020, and it is good to give a little reminder every now and then.

While there are other key Kingpin comics on the market, if you want significant ROI, Amazing Spider-Man #50 & #51 are really where all the money's at. In my opinion, especially with the appearance of Charlie Cox in Spider-Man: No Way Home, I think we will see Kingpin on Disney+ well before December and at that point? These books may be long gone.
