Graphic.lyMedia Release -- Graphic.ly, the new digital media platform for comic books and communities of fans, today announced at Comic-Con that it now offers the first comic app available on smartphones, tablets, PCs and desktop, another signal event in the transformation of comics to a digital medium that is more accessible by a wider audience and promises to bring new talent and content to the medium as well.

Graphic.ly is also offering exclusive bonus content in its store from notable creators including Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and BOOM! Studios’ Mark Waid. By providing additional content, Graphic.ly has extended the digital comic experience similarly to how DVD Extras extend movie watching.

In addition, Graphic.ly’s exclusive relationship with Archaia will bring all of Archaia’s titles, such as Mouse Guard and Fraggle Rock, to its digital platform. Graphic.ly is also partnering with fashion and beauty site Modelinia to offer a title featuring supermodels transformed into superheroes.

Graphic.ly will soon release the most advanced app available on the iPad, offering comic fans the ability to view content in full screen and leverage iPad zoom features. The company will also demonstrate its app and store on Windows Phone 7 devices, which will be available to consumers later this year.

“This Comic-Con event is going to be remembered as a transformative one for comic fans and creators around the world because comics today truly become a digital media art form,” said Micah Baldwin, CEO of Graphic.ly. “Being digital not only means anyone can easily access and enjoy comic content, it also means that creators themselves can participate and push the technology even further.”

The Graphic.ly app is now available for iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac and Windows, including Windows 7, laptops, desktops and portables, and soon on the iPad. The company plans to extend the footprint of compatible devices and operating systems throughout the rest of the year.
