The Black Adam movie will debut on December 22, 2021. I realize this is far off, but that is the time to buy. When it is cold or just starting to warm up that is when a good speculator is busy loading up inventory. There are rumors that the DC Universe is going to use Black Adam #1 as a rough template for the film. Hints about using the modern version of Black Adam make for interesting speculation. Making this purchase an early speculative pick for 2021. Besides this particular book has an Alex Ross mind-blowing cover, what better book to own?

Black Adam #1 (Variant Cover)

This is a mini-series that spans only eight issues and follows Teth-Adam in a journey to find the power word that will restore him to Black Adam. Apparently, this anti-hero has become a full villain in this story and actually killed thousands of Bialyan citizens. Earth's superheroes are looking to bring him to justice. Others want a "pound of flesh" for the deaths he has caused. Either way, Black Adam is in for the fight of his life, with no powers and the world out to get him. It should make for a fun E-ticket ride.

Black Adam #1(Variant Cover) was created in 2007 by the writing of Peter J. Tomasi, and the art of Doug Mahnke. Then to make sure it sold they topped off this creative cake with the icing of an Alex Ross cover. What are the short-term and long-term returns on Black Adam #1 (Variant Cover)?

Long-term

  • Grade 9.8 $284 last sale returns positive +85.4%
  • Grade 9.6 $75 last sale returns negative -11.8%

Short-Term

  • Grade 9.8 $284 the last sale returns positive +76.9%

Essentially over the last three months, this book jumped substantially. Could this comic book continue to rise? Possibly, if we have a catalyst or some means of spurring the hype for this Black Adam mini-series.

It should be noted that the recent catalyst is the Rock's involvement with the film. Furthermore, he just topped that off with a heartfelt hello to the fans on Instagram. Explaining his love of Superman from when he was a kid and how his rebellious nature should line up nicely with portraying more of an anti-hero in this movie.

The Rock reminds me of Arnold (pronounced: R-Nuld!) Scharwzenegger and his domination of the 80s and early 90s movie scene with Terminator, Terminator 2, etc... He has that larger than life quality like Arnold and much better acting skills. I thought he sent a classy note to the fans on his Instagram:

"...my superhero dreams have come true. I'm honored to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it's a true pleasure to become, Black Adam. Black Adam is blessed by magic with the powers equal to Superman, but the difference is he doesn't toe the mark or walk the line. He's a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who'll always do what's right for the people- but he does it his way. Truth and Justice-the Black Adam way." Not bad Dwayne, not bad at all, I just hope that was from you and not your publicist.

Conclusion:

Black Adam might have no equal in the DC Universe but Superman and Shazam together, say goodnight, Mr. Rock. It is going to be a big tent event, and highly publicized. My guess is DC and therefore WB will dominate the headlines during the three months prior to the movie. Everyone is going to want to see the Rock take on Superman. It will be one fun ride. You don't have to have the wisdom of Soloman to profit from this matchup just pull the speculative trigger now and buy a couple of Black Adam #1's while they are still cheap.
