Muppet Show Treasure Of Peg Leg Wilson #4The Muppet Show: The Treasure of Peg Leg Wilson #4 of 4
Boom! Kids Comics

The Muppets wrap up this arc with a bang, as the rats (and dwarfs) continue to destroy the theater looking for the treasure. But what about other plots like Piggy's jewelry and Animal's sudden sophistication? Well, this issue satisfies everything and provides quite a few laughs in the process. This is another "can't miss" Muppet comic for sure.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsSince the theater begins the issue in shambles there isn't much of "show" in this issue. As a result, the skits are few and far between. This issue has Veterinarian's Hospital, Gonzo The Great, Muppet Labs and Stamp Collecting. All of the skits either tie into the overall plot or the have a direct impact on the plot's outcome. The issue, as always, does a good job of using the skits to provide some laughs while helping enhance the overall story or theme of the issue.

The Animal subplot has him booted from the band. It's at this point that he does some soul searching. Animal seems to want to be the dapper dude he's transformed into during the past few issues, but does his love of drumming take top priority? How does he even weigh the options?

The brunt of the issue deals with the treasure hunt. Kermit begins to convince some of the others that the map might be a fake or that the treasure mentioned might not actually be something of commercial or monetary value. Kermit is able to bring the demise of the theater to a unique halt.

The comic book ends with the theater needing to undergo some repairs which means a long road trip for the Muppets in hopes of earning some money. It's a nice way to transition to a new arc and direction.

The comic book isn't as ridiculously funny as previous issues. Instead, this comic has more of a dark thread of humor at times. Sure, some of the characters perform their usual slapstick acts, but for the most part this issue is more of a story than a series of gags. It works well in this issue because the performance count is so low. Still, the issue manages to have some hysterical moments, like Sweetums eating the globe during the Stamp Collecting skit.

The artwork hits on every cylinder in this issue. The amount of characters that waltz through this comic is staggering and all of them are well represented. This doesn't mean that the backgrounds suffer at all. In fact, this issue may be the busiest issue to date with the tremendous amount of background damage going on as the theater is systematically dismantled. The artwork is a hit all over the comic.

Another arc and another fun and creative read. If you have any interest at all in the Muppets then this is a comic book to check out regardless of the age of the reader. This is fun for everyone.
