Fanboys versus Zombies (FvZ) wraps up its first arc with another crazy issue. The main cast that the book has been following manages to resolve a lot of their issues with each other while the book ends with a larger world of problems for the survivors. The book is not trying to take itself seriously and that is definitely part of the fun here. Overall, this was a good issue and a really fun arc. I am definitely planning to check out the next issue to see where all of this is heading.

The "Wrecking Crew" and the two B-list celebrities that they picked up at Comic-Con are still trying to figure out a way to escape the overtaken Comic-Con building. However, all is not well as not one, but two of them, have suffered zombie bites. One has been taking energy drink treatments as a means to fight off the infection but he is out of it. This puts everyone on pins and needles as they debate killing off the two characters that are surely going to turn zombie within minutes.

However, it seems that because one of them ate some sort of infected hot dog that he is immune to the bite and he now becomes the cure as well. With no means of a blood transfusion, the seven characters are forced to spread the immunity the old-fashioned way: mouth to mouth.

The book sounds absurd because it simply is absurd and it all works to the advantage of the pace of the story as well as the interest level. I found myself turning the pages frantically simply because I wanted to see what oddity this book would produce next. And I wasn't disappointed.

The book also resolves a lot of the character confrontation that helped to make the story a little bit more dramatic. For the most part, the book is the love triangle mixed in with some action and laughs and that all makes for a very well paced comic book that changes gears at the right times.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe aspect of the artwork that sticks out is that it's a fun book. The characters are cartoon-like in their appearance and behavior and its perfect for this comic. The action scenes are so over-the-top I found them to be funny and effective. The only issue I have had with the art in this book is that the girls are very difficult to tell apart, especially when they are only headshots. The hair color, style and facial composition were all fairly indistinguishable. Beyond that I think the artwork tells an electrifying story.

FvZ ends with some death, which was expected but still a little disappointing. I found myself getting attached to these characters. However, the ending is a terrific cliffhanger to get the story into the next arc, which looks to be bigger in scope. I think this title has its place among the more energetic reads I pick up month to month and I look forward to the next issue to see where it is all heading. I recommend checking this out.
