Atomic Robo And The Deadly Art Of Science #5Atomic Robo: Deadly Art of Science #5 of 5

The latest arc of Atomic Robo wraps up with a loud and fun issue. With Robo and friends in deep trouble they receive help from an unlikely source as the two big adversaries finally go head to head. As always it's a fun issue that doesn't do anything except entertain the reader page after page.

Robo and Helen manage to botch up the rescue attempt on Helen's father, Jack Tarot. In the process there is a lot of fighting and robots beating on Robo in Edison's underground lair. Edison appears to have everything in order to ruin the world. Until Tesla shows up, that is.

One of the better aspects of this series is the characters, particularly Tesla, interacting with Robo. However, Tesla against Edison provides some of the best entertainment in this series this side of Doctor Dinosaur. Edison and Tesla facing off is excellent and Robo really takes a secondary role in the issue as a result. This wouldn't work long term but for an issue, to watch the two big brains go head to head works very well.

The only disappointment with the issue is the unresolved relationship between Robo and Helen. While Robo seems to come to a good resting point with Tarot nothing comes out of the Helen love interest. A lot of assumptions can be made and perhaps this will be explored more later in another series but it seems like there should have been some sort of good-bye in this issue.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is exactly the same as it has been throughout this series: fun. Somehow, the art manages to convey facial expressions and attitude on a mouth-less robot which seems impossible. The issue contains plenty of action and a lot of creative surprises. It's just a fun visual story all around.

With the return of Doctor Dinosaur coming to Atomic Robo for the Free Comic Book day edition this week, this is a perfect time to get into this series. While you are in your shop you should pick up any of these back issues. Even if you just get this one I would be surprised if you are disappointed. There aren't too many comic books out there that have the wit, charm, action and character depth as this one. And how many comic books cast Thomas Edison as the main villain? I definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for something fun to read.
