Archie Vs Predator #1Archie Vs Predator #1 of 4

Archie against Predator sounds ridiculous and may turn out to be great fun but by all accounts the first issue is largely Archie and friends on vacation. There is very little Predator in the comic book. The issue mostly captures Archie and his interactions with Betty and Veronica and some of the others. However, there are some panels that are quite bloody and graphic. Overall the book reads like a regular Archie comic book with some blood in it. I recommend giving this a look.

Archie and friends are debating what to do with the their break from school when Jughead wins a vacation. This is complicated because some of the rich kids that like to pick on Archie and clan are also vacationing on the same Island. For the most part, the comic is about the struggle between Betty and Veronica with Archie, but it does mix in the rich kids here and there. Eventually Betty runs off into the woods where trouble lurks.

The comic contains a couple of bloody deaths but they go undiscovered by everyone except the reader. It seems Archie will battle with the Predator in future issues. The bloody scenes include torn out spines. Not something you normally find in an Archie comic.

I liked the comic. However, I like Archie comics and know the characters well. I think someone going into this book with knowledge of Predator but not Archie won't find much in here to like unless they fall for the charms of Archie and friends. Fans of Archie that have no idea about the Predator are in for a shock but a mild one in this particular comic.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is perfect. The book is detailed and brings the characters to life. The comic has a vibrant look to it that makes the book feel and look fun. Obviously, the bloody bodies make it more of a mature audience book, but the style definitely fits the all ages category. I enjoyed the artwork a lot.

Archie versus Predator is a mild comic to start the mini-series. It explores Archie and his friends and their personality dynamics. While the Predator shows up a little bit, there isn't much to go on. While a couple of characters do meet their doom, it occurs off-panel and without the core cast finding their bodies. This comic book is something to check out, but set your expectations low if you think there is a big showdown or confrontation within this issue. I recommend giving this comic a look.
