Media Release -- Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, is proud to announce that the Young Adult Library Services Associate (YALSA) committee has chosen four Oni Press graphic novels for their 2016 book lists.

Bad Machinery Volume 4: The Case of the Lonely One by John Allison, Junior Braves of the Apocalypse Volume 1: A Brave is a Brave by Greg Smith, Michael Tanner, and Zach Lehner, Meteor Men by Jeff Parker and Sandy Jarrell with Kevin Volo, and Princess Ugg Volume 1 by Ted Naifeh were chosen for YALSA's 2016 "Great Graphic Novels for Teens" list.

Junior Braves of the Apocalypse Vol. 1 was also chosen for the 2016 "Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers" list.

"This series opener is a solid alternative for young readers who may be intrigued by popular zombie comics written for adults and might not be ready for Walking Dead or Jonathan Maberry's Rot & Ruin books," says School Library Journal in its review of Junior Braves of the Apocalypse. "While this work is not without violence or mature themes, it has mild content that is appropriate for middle schoolers. The subject matter and format make this a perfect title for reluctant readers."

"This small-press charmer [Bad Machinery Vol. 4], based on an ongoing webcomic, is a stylish jumble of pop-culture references, sly humor, eye-catching characters, mystery—and, oddly enough, aliens." Kirkus

"Thoughtful teens who want more than just action in their science fiction may want to try [Meteor Men]." Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA) magazine

"Verbally and visually then, [Princess Ugg Vol. 1 is] as accomplished as anything else in Naifeh’s already strong body of work, and seems to have the sort of broad appeal that should earn it a large and appreciative audience among boys and girls, young and old." Good Comics for Kids
