Since the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer released last week, the internet has been abuzz chatting about the returns of Doctor Octopus (once again played by Alfred Molina), The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Electro (Jamie Foxx). While those characters did either appear, or receive a pretty clear ‘tease’ in the trailer, today, we are going to discuss five villains who may appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home!

Five Villains Who May Appear In 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'

Marvel Comics introduced the Sinister Six back in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, and if that trailer was anything to go by… It looks like the team is finally making their live-action debut, this December.

Before we jump into all of this, I think it is essential to advise that my article is using the trailer and accredited sources regarding all my opinions and theories. I am not basing all of this on some unknown user on a 4Chan forum, alright? Only legitimate sources in a Robert D’Ottavi article.

So, on the likely chance that I guess correctly and you would not like to see who appears in the film, please hop off the article now. It is your final warning. Still here? Great, let the multiverse madness… begin!

#5. The Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans from The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #6

Lizard_NoWay_Home

Let’s start things off with a very, very strange shout. The Lizard has had it pretty rough as far as on-screen appearances are concerned.

Despite appearing as Dr. Connors in Spider-Man 2 & 3, Dylan Baker was set to transform into the Lizard in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4… before the movie was canned.

In 2012, however, we finally saw The Lizard in all his cinematic glory… Only for the character’s design to be incredibly divisive and for most of his backstory and character arc left on the cutting room floor.

That said, in the trailer, there does appear to be a visual allusion to the Lizard. It is dark, unclear and not at all confirmed. However, if you watch the ‘moment’ in slow-motion, you can clearly see what appears to be a tail. Look, I’m not 100% sold yet… But I wouldn’t be completely shocked.

#4. The Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio from Daredevil (2015-2018)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #50

Kingpin_NoWayHomeOkay, I am throwing in this one for a bit of fun. Since the cancellation of Netflix’s Daredevil, fans and Vincent D’Onofrio himself have been clamouring for Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin to return to the Marvel universe in a big way.

With rumours that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is appearing in the movie, who's to say ‘Big Willy’ won’t make a cameo or so?

It is a particularly strange prediction, but before 2020, I never would have said Jamie Foxx is going to play Electro again…

There have been some rumours spreading over Twitter and Reddit regarding D’Onofrio’s appearance, including one from the same insider who confirmed Cox’s appearance as Matt Murdock, so. I guess time will tell? Only Feige really knows what is going on.

#3. The Vulture, played by Micheal Keaton from Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #2

Vulture_NoWayHomeI mean, would anyone complain if we were to see more Micheal Keaton?

Between Spider-Man: No Way Home this December, Morbius next March and The Flash later next year, Michael Keaton is collecting comic book movie roles like Thanos collects Infinity Stones, and honestly?

I am so here for it.

Keaton’s last appearance as Adrian Toomes/The Vulture was in the post-credit scene for Spider-Man: Homecoming in which the Sinister Six was heavily teased.

With the character confirmed to pop-up in Morbius, could Keaton also make a cameo or even be involved with the multiversal Sinister Six in No Way Home

#2. Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal from Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #13

Mysterio_NoWay_HomeWhile Mysterio, brilliantly played by Jake Gyllenhaal, allegedly 'died' in Spider-Man: Far From Home, does anyone actually buy that?

I mean, this is Mysterio we are talking about. The master of illusions!

I would not be at all surprised if Mysterio makes a return in this movie, and I do not mean through the use of archival footage.

Honestly, I firmly believe the character is a part of this multidimensional Sinister Six.

I think the events of this movie will inspire Mysterio to form his own version of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

#1. The Sandman, played by Thomas Haden Church from Spider-Man 3 (2017)

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #4

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 may not have been everybody’s cup of tea, but I personally adore the movie, and I happen to think that Thomas Haden Church crushed it as Flint Marko/Sandman. His performance was equal parts tragic, as it was epic.

While Sandman and Spider-Man patched things up in the movie’s conclusion, could Sandman appear as a potential aid to the Multiversal Spider-Men?

In the trailer for the film, we can clearly see a sand-like creature rise up and physically protect Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Could this be the same character from Spider-Man 3?

What do you guys think? Any chance I am right about any of this, or will I go zero for five?
