The press release follows:

Media Release -- BOOM! Studios today revealed a first look at ABBOTT: 1973 #2, the latest issue of the new series from Miles Morales: Spider-Man mastermind & Eisner Award-winning writer Saladin Ahmed and acclaimed artist Sami Kivelä (Machine Gun Wizards), with colorist Mattia Iacono and letterer Jim Campbell. This new five-issue series returns to the Hugo Award-nominated world of Abbott, as the eponymous unstoppable reporter tackles a new corruption taking over Detroit in 1973 and the supernatural threat behind it.

An old friend sends an ominous warning to Abbott - her enemies have returned to weaken her by any means necessary. As the personal losses mount and her efforts at the newspaper are blocked, Abbott finally catches a break - uncovering one of the most guarded secrets of the group aiming to take down the man who would be Detroit's first Black mayor. But all victories come with a cost...and this one may just be too high for Abbott to pay!

ABBOTT: 1973 is the newest release from BOOM! Studios' eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including BRZRKR by Keanu Reeves, Matt Kindt, and Ron Garney; We Only Find Them When They're Dead by Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo; Seven Secrets by Tom Taylor and Daniele Di Nicuolo; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera; Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; and the upcoming Proctor Valley Road by Grant Morrison, Alex Child, and Naomi Franquiz. The imprint also publishes popular licensed properties including Dune: House Atreides from Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson, and Dev Pramanik; Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Jordie Bellaire and David López; Firefly from Greg Pak, Lalit Kumar Sharma & Daniel Bayliss; Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers from Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, and Francesco Mortarino; and the upcoming Magic series by Jed MacKay and Ig Guara.

Readers can find ABBOTT VOL 1 available everywhere books are sold. In the uncertain social and political climate of 1972 Detroit, hard-nosed, chain-smoking tabloid reporter Elena Abbott investigates a series of grisly crimes that the police have ignored. Crimes she knows to be the work of dark occult forces. Forces that took her husband from her. Forces she has sworn to destroy.

Print copies of ABBOTT: 1973 #2, featuring cover art by Taj Tenfold (Lovecraft Country), Raúl Allén (Dune: The Graphic Novel), and Mirka Andolfo (Mercy), will be available for sale on February 17, 2021 exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the nearest one) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.
