Birthright TPB Vol. 01 HomecomingIn March's BIRTHRIGHT from Image Comics/Skybound, the Rhodes have lived through every parent's worst fear — their young son Mikey disappeared one year ago. Now, as their family disintegrates and hope fades, Mikey returns, but nothing could have prepared them for who he is now.

Snatched from his life by beings from another world, Mikey became a hero whose destiny was to save the land of Terrenos. A grown man hardened by battles with dragons, trolls, and evil mages, Mikey is back to save Earth from the same peril that threatened Terrenos in this series by Joshua Williamson (NAILBITER, GHOSTED) and Andrei Bressan that turns fantasy into reality.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Williamson spoke about the emotional core of BIRTHRIGHT. "Can you imagine losing a child? That is the scariest thing in the world to me," he said. "The Unknown. The life lost. But then it brings the question of, what would you do to get that child back? How far would you go to get the kid back, and to keep the kid….

"As much as this book is about the drama, and fantasy aspects, it's really about family and loss," he added.

BIRTHRIGHT, VOLUME 1 will be in comic book stores on March 4 and in bookstores on March 17. It is specially priced at $9.99 and available for pre-order now.

Praise for BIRTHRIGHT:

"[Williamson and Bressan] have managed to build not just a compelling fantasy world – something incredibly hard to do in comics – but added a depth of intrigue to the real world story as well as effectively capture the joyous reuniting of a family after a terrible loss." –Cody Mudge, Capeless Crusader

"One of the best new books on the block, marrying inventive fantasy with compelling drama." –Jeff Lake, IGN

"Joshua Williamson takes a fantastical premise (a modern child lost to time and space, returning to the present from a barbaric fantasy era) and applies a strong sense of family and brotherhood to the proceedings. Andrei Bressan's serious, harrowing art helps craft the illusion." –Vince Ostrowski, Multiversity Comics

"...an emotionally powerful story with great characters that is instantly compelling." –Nick Couture, Comicosity
