Loki helped the Temple of Tuck move into the black this week instead of just treading water. What did I do with my imaginary money? Invest in more Loki, of course.

LAST WEEK

After the overhaul last round, I started turning a profit once again. The big winner was Journey Into Mystery #85, which nearly doubled in fair market value in a week’s time. That’s not unexpected, considering the Loki series on Disney+ is on the verge of its world premiere.

The biggest question mark hovering over my picks has been all those Amazing Spider-Man keys. I traded some comics out to pick up a low-grade ASM #15, which made sense considering all the recent Kraven movie news. Surprisingly, it didn’t move the ticker at all. There also were my Venom keys, ASM #300 and ASM #316. That Venom first appearance picked up $25, but his big cover debut lost $25, so the two offset one another.

At the bottom, we have my two blue chips that I am running out of patience with: Bitter Root #1 and the second print Hardcore #1. For another week, they stayed exactly the same. So it was time to part ways with Bitter Root and make room for new merchandise.

Here’s the full rundown of last week’s fantasy investments:

THIS WEEK’S PICKS

I made a lot of moves this week all with the goal of upgrading that first appearance of Loki in JIM #85. I sold off my 1.5 as well as the 2.0 ASM #15 and upped the ante for a 2.5 JIM #85. Now I can only hope someone writes a huge check for one of their very own.Loki

Another move I made was to upgrade my ASM #300 to a 9.2, which has been the biggest seller among the grades for the first appearance of Venom. That gives this grade a better chance at profits than the 8.0.

With the last of my budget, I took a gamble on Namor. There’s a rumor going around that he has been cast for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Whether or not it is true, it is still prompting collectors and speculators to jump back on the Submariner bandwagon.

LokiI didn’t have the funds for a Fantastic Four #4, his first Silver Age appearance, but I had exactly enough to pick up a low-grade Sub-Mariner #1.

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #85 (2.5) - CURRENT FMV: $2,900
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 (9.2) - CURRENT FMV: $1,150
SUB-MARINER #1 (2.5) - CURRENT FMV: $190
HARDCORE #1 SECOND PRINT 2012 (9.8) - CURRENT FMV: $12
BUDGET: $4,252
TOTAL SPENT: $4,252

Want to play? Follow the rules, and add your picks to the comments section.

  1. This is only for graded comics and their averages based on current values calculated by GoCollect.
  2. You can only buy one grade per comic, so no buying $3k’s worth of one hot book.
  3. Once you post your picks, they are locked until the following Sunday at midnight.
  4. You can have as many or as few comics as you like, as long as you don’t exceed the $3k budget.
  5. Only comics with a current GoCollect Fair Market Value can be used.
  6. Universal grades only; no CGC Signature Series or qualified grades.
  7. At the end of each week, the winner is determined by the biggest profit margin over the initial $3k budget. That will also determine your next week’s budget.
  8. Make moves. You have to sell at least one of your comics each week.
  9. Spend it or lose it. If you still have money left in your budget, it doesn’t carry over to the next round.
