Fantasy Investing 6/2/21: Trying Journey into Mystery #85

060121D-300x157 Fantasy Investing 6/2/21: Trying Journey into Mystery #85Fantasy Investing is upon us again, and the Temple of Tuck broke even this week despite what I thought were some blue chip picks.

PREVIOUSLY ON…FANTASY INVESTING

Last week, I put my stock in a couple of low-risk investments with a ton of upside thanks to Hollywood – Bitter Root and Hardcore. Yet, here we are seven days later, and I have nothing to show for it. Not one single dollar’s change. At least they didn’t lose money, which I can’t say for my 8.0 ASM #300. With all the Venom hype, I would have thought that one would have picked up a little profit, but it actually lost $50 in fair market value.Bitter-Root-1-standard-197x300 Fantasy Investing 6/2/21: Trying Journey into Mystery #85

What offset that $50 loss were the small gains in FMV for Cap #117 and ASM #316, both of which earned $25 each. In all, it helped me break even and maintain the exact same budget as last week, $3,327.

THIS WEEK’S STRATEGY

Despite outward appearances, I actually would prefer to stick with all my picks for another week or two. With the latest Spider-Man/Sony-verse news in which it was confirmed that, indeed, there is a plan in motion to connect Sony’s franchises with the MCU, that should be good news for my Venom keys.

At the same time, Bitter Root and Hardcore are bound to turn a profit once the latest sales numbers are calculated into the FMV.

That leaves me with Hulk #180 and Cap #117. Falcon’s first appearance has been my rock this year, and with the Sam Wilson Captain America news from Marvel, it is not going to stop making money anytime soon. That leaves me debating Hulk #180, my stalwart pick since last year.

Win or lose, I want some excitement this week. My strategy: sell both Cap #117 and Hulk #180. That gives me $1,775 in fantasy to cash to invest in something big and expensive. I am always a huge fan of investing in trends, so I am putting that extra cash toward a low-grade Journey into Mystery #85. Loki is set to debut next week on Disney+, so that should push that $1k investment into the black. Journey-into-Mystery-85-201x300 Fantasy Investing 6/2/21: Trying Journey into Mystery #85

With my remaining fantasy bucks, I will invest in another low-grade, but this time it will be Kraven’s debut in ASM #15. That still leaves me with $25 to spend, which is not enough to upgrade anything else, so I will just have to take that loss.
