GET YOUR BOOKS SIGNED BY ARTISTS NOT AT COMICON!

What's that, you ask? It's true! How would you like to get your books signed at Comicon by Peter Bagge, Ivan Brunetti, Charles Burns, Kim Deitch, Drew Friedman, Megan Kelso, Miss Lasko-Gross, Joe Sacco, Richard Sala, and Jim Woodring? They won't be there, but we decided to do something special this year and prepare a *very* small run of exclusive signed bookplates, included with selected books at no extra charge. Pictured above is the bookplate we produced for The Frank Book, and it's very representative of the design for all the plates. They're handsome, and very limited, in most cases fewer than 20 copies, in many cases fewer than 10.

FLETCHER HANKS: THE ED WOOD OF COMICS?
Featuring Paul Karasik
THURSDAY, JULY 26
3:00-4:00pm
ROOM 10

Welcome to the bizarre world of Fletcher Hanks, Super Wizard of the inkwell. Hanks worked for only three years in the earliest days of the comic book industry and then...disappeared. Genius? Nut-case? Visonary? All of the above? Cartoonist Paul Karasik (co-adapter of Paul Auster's City of Glass) has spent years tracking down these obscure buried stories and collected them in I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets: The Comics of Fletcher Hanks. But he saved one of the weirdest to present at this lecture. Hanks is the greatest Golden Age cartoonist that you never heard of...until now.
