The first appearance of the Kingpin is a key that everyone wants to own, but only a few can afford. It is integral to Spidey's storyline. Wilson Fisk appears to the world as a business person, but he is actually the Kingpin, criminal mastermind. His storyline is interwoven with at least half a dozen superheroes. He has fought Spider-Man, Daredevil, Punisher and a host of others. His greatest triumph was almost to destroy Mathew Murdock when he learned Murdock was Daredevil, taking wealth, and power from him. Kingpin first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #50 created by Stan Lee (script) and John Romita (pencils). This has always been a favorite key comic book. It is, in fact, becoming harder and harder to find ASM #50 in the physical retail space. More than likely this would need to be purchased online at auction. Will you profit from owning the first Kingpin of Crime?

The last (9.8) mint condition copy of Amazing Spider-Man #50 sold for $30,000 on 12/02/2014 (GoCollect). The highest percentage returns have come from a very fine plus (8.5) graded book which returned +48.9%. This (8.5) book sold in July 2018 for $1750. This is a great entry-level piece for a speculator looking to break into the higher end vintage comics. Kingpin is a big key, as this character has appeared across many comic superhero books, movies and games. He was one of the biggest villains in the Amazing Spider-Man series until Venom came along twenty years later.

Amazing Spider-Man #50

Is there a catalyst for this comic? Yes, Vincent D'Onofrio plays a convincing Kingpin, on the Daredevil Netflix series. D'Onofrio is very effective on the show, even brutal. In a scene from season one, he opens some Russian mobster's head like popping a bottle cap off a soda. This guy is a powerful actor and does a respectable job playing Kingpin. Daredevil season three will be out in November 2018 and rumors are indicating a strong Kingpin presence. If this is the case, you can expect ballooning profits from Amazing Spider-Man #50 to continue (source: comicbk.com). In October, we will be Kung "Foo'd" by a somewhat inadequate Iron Fist. Finn Jones (Iron Fist) will be spewing forth a weak version of Danny Rand. Yes, that show is just that bad. At least, we will have Daredevil to look forward to afterward. Are you still asking yourself, if you should invest in this comic book? Then, perhaps you need to think a little like the Kingpin and make your move before your opponents beat you to the profit.

The Man Called Nova #1

During the Infinity War Thanos apparently wiped out the Nova Corps in his pursuit of population control. What better reason to create Nova; to breathe life back into the Nova Corps? The comic book The Man Called Nova #1 is the origin of Nova and the first time he appears in comics. This character created by Marv Wolfman (script) and John Buscema (art).  This Bronze Age superhero has flight, invulnerability, superhuman strength, the ability to focus gravitational energy beams, and an array of high-tech gadgetry in his suit. He can also call upon the Nova Force when needed. Nova was all but forgotten in the 1980's as everyone was enthralled by Wolverine. Later on, Nova joined the ranks of the New Warriors in 1989 and continued in popularity into the 1990's. Does The Man Called Nova #1 merit closer review as potential speculation?

Contrail to Profit

The returns for investing in Nova have really taken a turn for the better. The Man Called Nova #1  has returned from 8% to 12% for grades (9.4) thru (9.8). The fair market value for a 9.6-graded issue is $230. Nova has appeared in the New Warriors, Defenders, and The Secret Avengers. With a solid average return, consistent pricing, and interest in this character revived over the last twenty years; The Man Called Nova #1 could be the rocket ship to stratospheric profits. TMCN #1 has gone Nova with popularity since 1989.

Finally, with some hints from Kevin Feige that Nova and the Corps will eventually come to the big screen, fans are holding their breath in anticipation. Feige reiterated that probably after the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 premieres, or thereabouts. Kevin Feige does seem to see the potential the character has on the big screen. With the filmmaker set to help expand the cosmic side of the MCU after Guardian's #3 premieres, we're bound to see Nova on the big screen. This human missile could launch speculation returns into outer-space.
