Doctor FateWith the success of Marvel's Doctor Strange movie, DC Comics appears to be following their lead. Similar to Doctor Strange, DC Comics plans to introduce Doctor Fate. The sorcerer is set to make an appearance in the upcoming Black Adam movie, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Reports for the movie are looking for a 40 to 50-year-old actor to play Fate, who will have a "strong supporting role" in the movie. The character is also described as an "ageless master of the mystic arts". Interestingly enough, Doctor Fate has many users of the "Helmet of Fate". Let's see which an individual could star in the Black Adam movie.

Kent Nelson:

Kent Nelson is a popular choice to be chosen for the movie. Specifically, he is the first user of the "Helmet of Fate". He made his first appearance in More Fun Comics #55 in May 1940. Do not worry about the speculation, the comic, even in low grade is in the thousands. Nelson discovers the helmet during an expedition to the Valley of Ur.

In addition, there are many reasons why he is the ideal choice. Firstly, he is a co-founder of the Justice Society of America. The Justice Society of America (JSA) is a superhero group similar to the very popular Justice League. The JSA consists of members, such as the Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Hawkman (Carter Hall), Spectre, and Doctor Fate. Additionally, reports are that the new Stargirl television show on the CW could feature this superhero team. So, this could be more exposure and tie-in for this version of Doctor Fate.

Secondly, he has been the choice when it comes to animated shows and video games. Lately, he has appeared in the Young Justice animated series, while appearing in  Justice League Unlimited series and Superman: The Animated Series previously. Whereas, in the video games, he was the popular choice appearing in the DC Universe Online.

Hector Hall:

Hector Hall is the son of two famous Golden Age heroes, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, otherwise known as Carter Hall and Shiera Hall. His parents were cursed to be reincarnated after each death and the same applied to Hector. Hector's first appearance is in All-Star Squadron #25. He would take up the mantle of several heroes, such as the Silver Scarab, Sandman, and Doctor Fate.

With Hall, he would become a user of the "Helmet of Fate" during his reincarnation cycle. It would be several years later, where his parents Hank Hall and Dawn Granger, better known as the superheroes Hawk and Dove. Just like Kent Nelson, Hall used his powers fighting alongside the JSA and constantly going up against Mordru, a dark lord bent on trying to steal the power of Doctor Fate. Other than his connection to the JSA, Hall's famous roots are to be considered if this version of Doctor Fate is cast.

Khalid Nassour:

The last Fate user I wanted to mention is the most current one. Khalid Nassour is an Egyptian-American medical student who currently dons the "Helmet of Fate". It is given to him when the statue of Bastet held out its hand and gave him the "Helmet of Fate". This occurred during a visit to the Brooklyn Museum. His first appearance as Doctor Fate is in Doctor Fate #1 (2015).

A couple of connections can be made here. Being the great-nephew of Kent Nelson, they could make the connection with him in Marvel's Ant-Man with Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Basically, Nelson being a mentor to Nassour in using the Fate Helmet. In addition, like Doctor Fate, Nassour is a member of the Justice League Dark. Justice League Dark is a superhero team specializing in battling villains in supernatural causes. Members of this team consist of John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Shade, and Doctor Fate. Think of the Justice League, but fighting villains that use magic like Black Adam and Felix Faust.

Doctor Fate

Lastly, DC Comics has been providing a lot of exposure for the Justice League team, at least in the animated world. So the extra exposure for Khalid is warranted. Not to mention, that there are rumors this character could receive his own solo movie after appearing in the Black Adam movie. In closing, there is also word that the solo Doctor Fate film could include multiple versions of the hero, rather than just featuring one.
