Dynamic Forces Signs Stan Lee to Historical Deal!
EXCELSIOR! ‘Nuff Said! With the Great Stan, comes Great Responsibility!
November 30th, 2006, Runnemede, NJ – Dynamic Forces today announced a line of Historical Retrospective Books pairing the premiere comics and collectibles company with the legendary Stan Lee. Stan Lee, the co-creator of many great silver age characters – the corner stone - of the Marvel Universe, and the foundation of the multi-billion dollar entertainment giant Marvel has since become, is responsible for co-creating such characters as The Amazing Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, the Avengers, the Uncanny X-Men -- and the list continues as Stan is the most prolific writer/creator in comics history. Previously Lee helped create an entire generation of writers and artist not only with his comics work, but with such previous “instructional” books as How to Draw the Marvel Way. This new series will help create the next generation.
The first two titles scheduled for release in the series will be editions of Stan Lee' s Guide to Writing Comics and Stan Lee's Guide to Drawing Comics. The books will be presented in full-color with the first book scheduled to be released in early 2007, the second in mid to late 2007 and more in the series will follow.
The arrangement comes after many months of planning, the end result of which has proved to be exceptionally rewarding for Dynamic Forces as President Nick Barrucci explained: “This is so surreal, that words escape me. I have grown up reading Stan’s comics. He’s done such an incredible body of work, that he’s influenced so many generations of not only comic creators, but literary greats and directors and producers, his legacy speaks for itself. A former writer and editor for Wizard: The Comics Magazine, award-winning journalist Christopher Lawrence has penned pieces for some of the world's foremost pop culture publications, including FHM and PlayStation Magazine. ABOUT PETER SANDERSON:
Peter Sanderson is a comic book industry writer, editor, journalist and professor at New York University.
He is best known for his work as a researcher and historian at DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Sanderson was first hired by DC in the early 1980s and was given the task of reading every comic book published by DC since 1935. His research was used by Marv Wolfman in writing the legendary Crisis on Infinite Earths and by Len Wein in writing the definitive Who's Who in the DC Universe. Sanderson then went to work for Marvel as their first (and only) archivist, and contributed as a researcher on the various Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe series in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Sanderson was also the writer of the Marvel Saga and the Wolverine Saga limited series; the two series centered on text chronicling the fictional histories of comic book characters. Rather than writing new exploits of the characters, Sanderson culled information from comic books Marvel had published over the years. The text was supplemented by individual panels excerpted from the comic books that served as Sanderson's sources.
Most recently, Sanderson has worked with DK Publishing to produce to the “Ultimate Guides” to the X-Men and the Ultimate X-Men.
