During the summer of 2019 the 6 piece band Dead & Company, comprised of original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzman, and Mickey Hart along with guitarist John Mayer, bass player Oteil Burbridge, and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti embarked on their 5th annual summer tour. The tour saw 19 performances at 14 locations from May 31st through June 22nd. A limited-edition screen printed poster was designed for each event. See some of my favorites from the 2019 tour below!

Shoreline Amphitheater

Dead & Co ShorelineThe first print was designed for the tour opener at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View CA, by artist Gregg Gordon AKA GIGART. The centerpiece of the design features a turtle crossing the nearby Golden Gate bridge over a bed of roses. The lighter pastel colors contrast perfectly with the bold Dead & Company heading at the top. This design was an 18"x 24” 8 color silkscreen poster. Additionally, each print was signed by Gordon and the run was limited to 1700 pieces.

Hollywood Bowl

Dead & Co Matt LeunigOur next piece was designed by artist Matt Leunig from Scraped Knee illustration and design studio located in Atlanta, GA. The poster was created to commemorate a 2 night run at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA. The design incorporates the recognizable Hollywood Bowl stage into the iconic “Steal Your Face" logo. Thus, I think Leunig found the perfect balance of Dead and Los Angeles imagery here. The 2 color Dead & Company logo really pops off the dark background. The print is an 18 x 24” 6-color screenprint by the folks at Good Thoughts Printing, which is located in Boulder, CO.

Foxboro to NYC

Dubois Dead and CoFinally, the last design we will look at is a double print from long time poster artist Mike Dubois. This poster commemorates the back to back stadium shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, and Citi Field in New York. The design combines the two prints to form one cohesive image. The Gillette print features a bright sun burning in the sky in addition to a pair of merry pranksters traveling across the design from Boston to NYC. Left to right the design fades from light to dark as night falls on New York City. Both prints are diptych nine-color screen prints on rainbow foil paper. Hopefully, we will all be in line early at our next show waiting for a poster soon!
