The focus for this discussion is on the comic series called DC Comics Presents. This key series ran for 97 issues and mixed in a couple of annual books as well. The series was published in 1978 and presents many key characters from the DC mythos.

A while ago, I wrote a blog on a key series that involves important Marvel characters. The blog, Vampire Tales: A key series to consider grabbing - GoCollect, focused on a comic series that had many key issues and characters that collectors could look into getting. With that, I would like to focus on the other comic juggernaut publisher, DC Comics. To me, it is tough since many key issues and characters found are located in character-dependent series. The meaning is that many of the notable heroes and villains can be found in the original Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman comic series. In addition, those series are very old and many of the important issues are very pricey.

DC Comics Presents #1 & #2

DC Comics Presents started during the "Bronze Age" of comics where it introduced key characters and events. It does not have the super notable books of DC Comics, but it has issues that could surprisingly produce positive gains in the near future. All in all, if it does not make individual money in the near future, at least it is a good read in itself.

Chronologically, DC Comics Presents #1 starts off with the completion of a very interesting event. It concludes the fourth "Superman vs The Flash" race between the two dynamos. These two heroes race each other quite a bit in claiming the title of the fastest. I will not spoil the ending, but there is a reason why they have raced against each other more than once! Lastly, for collectors, DC Comics Presents #2 also comes in a "Whitman Variant" in case anyone wants to finish their collection on those books.

DC Comics Presents  #26

The next issue is probably the most expensive book in the series. DC Comics Presents #26 claims this title in the series. The significance is it introduces the new Teen Titans team that consists of Raven, Cyborg, Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Starfire, and Beastboy. It is notable for being the first appearance of Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire. High graded copies of this book reach the high hundreds, as Fair Market Value for a 9.8 is $700. Collectors like multiple first appearances and are the main reason driving the value of this book. Lastly, the Titans show on the HBO/DC streaming platform could be another reason to pick up this issue as well. The show has received great reviews, despite the news that the comics division could be ending in the near future.

DC Comics Presents #47

So the next key issue comes from DC Comics Presents #47. This issue depicts the first appearance of He-Man and Skeletor in a DC Comic. These characters are notable from the animated Master of the Universe franchise. Its popularity spread to a toy line and a featured film. This franchise has many fans from its animated tv show run. These fans are waiting anxiously to hear the news for this series to get rebooted. This is another key issue that is waiting to explode if DC Comics decides to introduce these characters in their cinematic universe.
