Dark Horse Comics is celebrating 35 years of generating some outstanding content for the comic collective to enjoy and speculate over! Since Dark Horse has A TON of Star Wars, Predator, and Alien titles that will see investment scrutiny over the next few months due to the new series and comics being made by those titles, is it time to consider Dark Horse Rising in collector interest?

Keep an Eye on Creepy

While there are obvious titles and issues within the Dark Horse fold that have long interested collectors, Dark Horse rising suggests that there are other titles and issues within the Dark Horse family that will get a serious look as some Dark Horse titles get swept up in the Star Wars, Predator, and Aliens wake.  Creepy, a title Dark Horse released in 2009 deserves a look.  Great art, writing, and the horror genre add to the desirability of this series.  With an ode to the Warren Creepy series and scarce slab availability, this comic series might rise in interest. With only 7 sales recorded on GoCollect, this issue can become one of those pick-ups in the dollar bin at your local comic shop.  There are no CGC 9.8 in the sales history and a slabbed CGC 9.6 is trending in the $30 range.

It's Buffy's World.  We All Just Live in It!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of those cyclical titles that go hot and cold with comic collectors.  Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 is my bet to go hot, red hot!  The series has a strong fan base.  This comic series has a strong art and writing team.  Joss Whedon is heavily involved in the work.  Sooner or later (probably sooner!) we are going to get a Buffy re-boot of some sort and if Joss Whedon is involved, and Sarah Michelle Gellar reprises her role or makes a cameo of some sort in the re-boot, then I'm going with this much better series than the original Buffy Dark Horse series! Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #1 has already seen a big bump in price.  GocCollect's most recent sale documents a more than 100% increase over the last sale; hovering at $100 in CGC 9.8 category.

It's Black Hammer Time!

Black Hammer, created by Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston focuses on a group of superheroes living in the small country town of Rockwood where they become trapped a decade earlier after battling Anti-God during the Cataclysm (Sounds like the great plotline for a Netflix Series to me; which potentially there will be one!)  Phase 1 is their origin story.  There are several series releases; including a crossover with Justice League of America.  There is another series coming out in 2021.  Great story, great art, all the makings of a multi-season series on a streaming service=investment opportunity!  I really like the future prospects of this comic.

Plus, GoCollect is showing multiple sales of Black Hammer #1 recently! CGC 9.8 sales are trending up.  Prices are up more than 35% since October and the CGC 9.6 tier is seeing the most activity.  The CGC 9.6 sales are up more than 200% since May as a high and an increase of 100% as a low.  Buy-in at the low, and there is certainly money to be made with this comic!
