A new Captain America movie is coming, and it could introduce the MCU to a brand new villain whose key issues are ready for launch.

Marvel announced so many new movies for San Diego Comic-Con that several titles were lost in the shuffle. Of course, when you reveal the rest of Phase 4, all of Phase 5, and send the fans into hysterics with Phase 6’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, there’s almost too much to process. There’s one overlooked movie that speculators and investors don’t want to sleep on: Captain America: New World Order.

Personally, I can’t write that title without hearing Hulk Hogan’s voice, but I digress. A hot rumor is that the film will introduce Sinthea Schmidt, aka Sin, the Red Skull’s daughter. That should have you on the hunt for these issues before the D23 Expo kicks off on September 9.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #290

Before she was Sin, the Red Skull’s daughter debuted under another name, Mother Superior. Just to prove he is not just an asshole but THE asshole, Red Skull was so angry at having a daughter in the first place that he thought about killing Sinthea at birth. Father of the year, right? When he popped back into her life a few years later, Skull used a machine to age her into adulthood so she could give him a grandson. His misogyny knows no bounds, and on that day, he christened her “Mother Superior.” Am I the only one who reads “Mother Superior” and hears Viggo from Ghostbusters 2?

There’s only been one graded 9.8 sold online this year, and it went for $405 in January. If you are looking to save money, go with the 9.6, which currently averages $130.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #15 (2006)

Before the world got to know Miss Sinthea Schmidt, Ed Brubaker detailed her origin story in his phenomenal Captain America run. We could see the events from this issue unfold on the big screen, and that would raise those values. You’re not going to find any sales records for graded copies when it comes to Cap #15, so head to eBay for cheap raw copies.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #16

Ditching the whole “Mother Superior” nonsense, Sinthea Schmidt took up a new name for the 21st Century, Sin. This is when her character began to gain the most infamy, and it is an issue well worth your investment. At the moment, you can own a 9.8 for around $260 on average. The last time that near-mint copy swapped owners online was in July, though one did sell for $389 in January.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #612

Sin’s real claim to fame came in 2011. After she had been disfigured in an explosion, Sin was beginning to look more like dear ol’ dad. By Cap #612, she fully embraced being an asshole and gave herself a new name: Red Skull. With Johan out of the picture, she took up the moniker, and that could be where things are headed in the MCU unless Skull suddenly teleports from Vormir back to Earth.

Again, there are no graded sales on record, but that’s not a bad thing. Read between the lines, and it means there are deals to be found on raw copies.

SEEING RED

Nothing is certain in the MCU until Feige says so, but Sin would be a solid bet for the future. We may get some confirmation at this month’s D23, and that would make her key issues skyrocket. Now is the time to take the gamble and get in at the ground level.
