Welcome Psychedelic Art Exchange's May 2023 Single Consignor Special Auction!  This auction has over 100 different posters ranging in genres and ages, perfect for all collectors. If you've never looked at a concert poster auction and don't know where to begin, that's ok! Here are a few of my favorite gems from this month's auction!

1967 AOR-2.183 Grateful Dead Trip or Freak

The ghoulish face of Lon Chaney as Erik from 1925's The Phantom of the Opera makes a surprise appearance on this limited edition poster. This second printing was limited to 500, with this being number 414. Signed by artists Stanley Mouse and the late Alton Kelley, this collector's piece would look beautiful hung up in your home.

Originally designed for a Grateful Dead, Big Brother, and Quicksilver Messenger Service show on Halloween 1967, collectors ate this poster up when they saw it. Psychedelic Art Exchange notes that there is a crease in the bottom left corner.

A similar example of this poster last sold in March of 2023 for $450.

1969 The Rolling Stones at the SMU Moody Coliseum

If I had the ability to see as many concerts as I wanted with a time machine, The Rolling Stones in the 1960s would be my first stop. Beggar's Banquet and Let It Bleed are amazing albums, containing what would become huge hits for the Stones such as Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter. The Stones still tour to this day, although drummer Charlie Watts sadly passed away in 2021. This concert advertises ticket prices as starting at $4.00, which with inflation is around $33. There's no way any of us can see The Rolling Stones for $33 today.

This poster last sold in April of 2021 for $600. It's possible it could go for more, but I think $600 is a fair price for this piece. PAR notes that there is handling on this poster, and a bottom right corner crease.

1990 David Bowie, Joe Satriani - Giants Stadium

The iconic David Bowie may no longer be with us, but his music and spirit live on. This 1990 Sound and Vision tour poster with Joe Satriani, is for the July 29th, 1990 show at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This massive show was probably incredible to see live. This classic black and white poster features 1990 David Bowie, with Ziggy Stardust behind him. This tour was a greatest hits tour, with locations selling out for the British musician.

Finding a price point on this poster is harder, but a similar poster for the Dodger Stadium show during the same tour has a one-year average of $241. That poster is hot pink and black as opposed to black and white, and truthfully does pop more. I think around $200 would be a fair price point as this was a greatest hits tour, but it's still a great collector's piece for Bowie fans, especially for people who attended the show. PAR does not indicate the condition of this poster, but it appears to be in excellent shape.

This auction starts closing on May 14 - don't miss out!
