comiXologyMedia Release -- ComiXology, the leading digital comics platform, announces today its appointment of Marc Goldberg to its management team as Chief Technology Officer. Goldberg comes to comiXology from EPIX, the multiplatform premium entertainment channel, video-on-demand and online service owned by Viacom and its Paramount Pictures unit, MGM, and Lionsgate, where he also held the title of CTO.

"ComiXology has seen exponential growth in the past two years, not only in its delivery platform, but also in the staff required to serve all our customers needs," said David Steinberger, CEO and co-founder of comiXology. "Marc is the right person at the right time to help keep comiXology on this fantastic growth cycle."

Co-founder and former CTO John Roberts will be joining VP – General Manager Ron Perazza in comiXology's Publisher and Creator Services area.

"I'm excited about bringing Marc on as CTO," said Roberts. "Adding Marc to the team allows me to focus on taking the company to the next level as far as evolving the digital comics format, as well as working with publishers and creators to create the best comics possible and grow the industry."

At EPIX, Mr. Goldberg was responsible for technology strategy across all of the EPIX platforms, garnering much respect for his expertise in technology architecture, Internet applications, content delivery network (CDN) management, integration management, and video delivery.

Prior to EPIX, Mr. Goldberg served as the first CTO for Next New Networks, the leading publisher of original online video programming. He built the technology team from the ground up and guided the development, implementation, and integration of all advertising, operational, and corporate technology. This included hands-on development of the video content management system, integration of display and video advertising delivery platforms, automating syndication to partners, and creation of reporting tools.

Before joining Next New Networks, Goldberg was the Director of Web Services Engineering at Gemstar-TV Guide, Inc., the leading provider of television guidance products. He was hand-picked by TV Guide's CTO to manage the redesign and launch of the next generation TV Guide portal and used his extensive technology acumen to address scaling issues, CDN integration, and instituted development processes and life-cycle management.

Mr. Goldberg also previously held several positions in the Technologies Division at AOL. There he built and managed numerous talented teams and organizations, all of which were tasked with scaling AOL's proprietary architecture on big iron Unix servers or commodity Linux servers. One of Mr. Goldberg's most impressive feats involved leading his team's Web Proxy Infrastructure to enable 3 million simultaneously signed-in members to access 15 billion URLs per day.
