There were many changes in the top-10 Hottest Comics index this week, and something had to go in order to make room. Here are this week’s drops. This is a weekly speculation - so if you missed last week check it out.

19. SAVAGE SHE-HULK #1 (-11)

With the casting news for the lead role in Disney’s She-Hulk series, you would think this issue would be gaining positions, not losing. However, this could be a testament to how much She-Hulk’s price has inflated since last fall’s D23 expo. This isn’t to say that her first appearance is not a hot issue. After all, it has been one of the top-selling titles for months now, and it still sits atop the monthly Bronze Age sellers’ list. There is no denying that buyers pulled away from She-Hulk #1, at least for now. It will not take long for it to recuperate and be back in the top 10. When you can truly expect to see fireworks will be when the first She-Hulk trailer drops. That is when the current prices will seem like bargains.

26. OMEGA MEN #3 (-22)

One way or another, Omega Men #3 finds its way on a weekly comics list. Last week, it was among the hottest comics on the market, ranking fourth on the overall list. The week before, it lost several positions and was cooling down. Here we are again with a dip in the rollercoaster that is Omega Men #3, and it is bordering on falling out of the top 30.

No worries. I have written before that Lobo is destined for the big screen or at least a featured role on HBO Max. With the Green Lantern series beginning production soon, I predict that we will see “the Main Man” make an appearance. After all, the word is that Guy Gardner will play a large part in the series, and it would be tragic if he and Lobo did not get a chance to butt heads.

39. VENOM #3 FIRST PRINT (-32)

The Knull comics have gotten the She-Hulk treatment. They ballooned in popularity earlier this year, and their fair market values finally reached a bursting point. Now we see not only the first print of Venom #3 taking a slide, but the third print fell 53 positions and is now in the 73rd spot on the index.

None of this is an indication that collectors and speculators have tired of Knull. This is more of an indication of how overinflated the FMVs have become. Every balloon has to deflate sometime, and it appears that is beginning for Knull.

40. SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1 (-31)

This has been one of the premiere independent titles on the market in recent months. Once again, its dip in popularity this week could very well stem from swollen prices. At a 9.8, the standard edition has averaged nearly $300 over the past 90 days, and it has already sold for as much as $400 this year. The speculation is that this could someday become a live-action series or inspire a movie, but there has been no news of that so far. The longer the rumor mill stays quiet, the less speculators will be willing to invest.

52. UNCANNY X-MEN #266 (-42)

Last week’s tenth-place comic is now outside the top 50. Welcome to the world of comic collecting.

Gambit is one of the more popular X-Men, and we see the X-keys gaining momentum as rumors of the mutants joining the MCU heat up. While this issue may have lost 42 spots in the past week, I do not anticipate that to be the trend going forward. Gambit’s first full appearance will rebound because he has too great of a fan base. Plus, it is very likely he will be included in Marvel Studios’ MCU plans.
