We're down to the final 11 days before Christmas! It's crazy to think about it -- it feels like summer was just yesterday. But with the holiday season comes the last big event auctions at our favorite auction houses. We're going to take a look at what Comic Connect has in store for us this week. ComicLink's last auction of the year recently ended, so unfortunately we won't have any new goodies from them, and Heritage's next big event auction doesn't start until mid-January. Other auction houses are also not running any current big auctions (for sake of ease, we are not counting eBay in this).

We'll also be taking a look at the newest realized prices from recent auctions -- if there are any. So put on some holiday music, and let's dive in! You never know what hidden gems lurk in these auctions!

Current Comic Auctions

As I said earlier, it's pretty slim with auctions this time of year. ComicLink's last auction ends on the 13th, Heritage's next weekly comic auction isn't until Sunday (and again, their next big auction isn't until January), and this week concludes ComicConnect's last event auction of the year! It's hard to believe we're at this point.

Event Auction #48 at ComicConnect

With ComicConnect's final event auction of the year drawing to a close, there are still some highlights in this auction. From key Marvel books to modern gems, there really is something for everyone here.

Tomb of Dracula #1 was Marvel Comics' first Dracula series. Featuring a dynamic cover by Gene Colan, this book wastes no time in telling you exactly what you're in store for! This CGC Universal 9.2  with off-white to white pages presents very nicely. Copies of this book in the same grade have been trending down -- a recent sale of a similar 9.2 sold for $1140 in September of 2021, and it is worth noting that a prior sale for another 9.2 ended at $1875 a month prior. Don't let this dissuade you though. This book does have some bite to it!

Speaking of the famous bloodsucker, he did go toe to toe in the pale moonlight against Marvel's Werewolf in Werewolf by Night #15. As a classic horror fan, it's always fun to see two iconic monsters duke it out. This story is continued from Tomb of Dracula #18 and also introduces readers to a new Werewolf origin.

This CGC Universal 9.2 with off-white to white pages could be had at a very affordable price! This book has seen some price jumping over the year, so this book could be a sleeper hit in the long run.

Sales for similar 9.2's are promising -- the last sale for another 9.2 was in May of 2021, where the book ended at $247. A mere 2 months prior, another 9.2 sold for $98.

If you're like me, you're probably still not over the Wanda Vision series finale. Key books pertaining to the couple have seen some increase in popularity, though prices have cooled since the Disney+ series concluded. This CGC Universal 9.0 with white pages copy of Vision and the Scarlet Witch #12 could be had at a great price! This key book in their story introduced the Marvel universe to their twin boys -- which we did get to see in the show.

While their future is up in the air, this book has some serious long-term potential. The last sale for a similar 9.0 was $70 in September of 2021. Higher grades have gone down in value as well, but I wouldn't be too concerned.

Scarlet Witch is about to play a huge, vital role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so speculators will be eyeing up all of her keys again!

If you've got into comics because of the DC Extended Universe, you're in good company. While some might scoff at that statement, I am a fan of the DCEU! And this CGC Universal 4.5 with cream to off-white pages copy of Justice League of America #1 could be an affordable key to get!

This book has seen some slight price increases across most grades over the 2021 year, and this book is no exception. A similar 4.5 sold for a high of $1880 in September of 2021, but did drop to $1524 in early December, but don't let this deter you.

This is still a key DC book, and one worth keeping an eye on.

After the end of World War II, American superhero comics went kind of weird. In a post-war world, our caped crusaders found themselves in some unique situations -- the whole Seduction of the Innocent thing didn't help at all, either. Batman is well known for going absolutely batty after the war. From rainbow Batsuites to carrying shark repellent, the Dark Knight has truly seen it all.

This raw copy of Batman #87 isn't exactly weird unless you are put off by little hearts floating around Batman's head. Batman is in love, but is she a person worth loving? Vicki Vale also makes an appearance -- and as we all know, she was Batman's love interest in the classic Batman by Tim Burton.

ComicConnect is giving this book a 3.5/Very Good grade, with page quality unknown. A graded 3.5 sold in April of 2020 for $250, but expect to pay less for a raw book.

If you're looking for something not as heroic (at least, all the time), look no further than this CGC Universal 3.0 with brittle pages copy of Four Color #62, featuring Donald Duck and his three mischievous nephews -- Huey, Dewey, and Louie! This winter-themed cover (and story) is the ideal collectible for this time of year! With interior art by the legendary duck artist Carl Barks, this is a great collector's piece for Disney fans, and funny animal fans as well.

Be advised though, the cover is not by Barks, but by the talented Carl Von Buettner. Prices on this book have largely stayed the same, as graded copies of this book don't always come up for auction. The last sale on Universal 3.0 was in April of 2019 when the book sold for $164. While this may not be the most ideal book to invest in, early Disney comics are just plain fun. Disney provided ample escapism during World War II -- even when Donald himself was hanging out with the Axis Powers.

Comic Auctions: Results

It's hard to believe that we don't have any new auction results for this week. Heritage's next weekly comic auction is less than a week away, ComicLink has realized prices going up after the publication of this article, and ComicConnect's last even auction ends this week! Next week we will have a ton of new realized prices to go over -- here's hoping we get some good shockers! Be sure to check out GoCollect's weekly video game auction articles if you still need to scratch that itch. With endless potential, video games are the hottest collector's and speculator pieces around!

Until next week, good luck and happy bidding. We have a little over a week left until Christmas, so may all of your bids end at a good price.
