Not even Star Wars, the hottest property of 2020, was safe from the Coldest Comics list as a Mandalorian key led a downward trend and lost over 800 positions.

What goes up must come down, and these five comics lost the most ground of any issues on the Hottest Comics rankings. This week, there were some surprises to be sure.

Bear in mind, the Coldest Comics are based on eBay sales for the past week. This is not an indication of a title’s fair market value, but a reflection of the number of sales for the last seven days.

932. STAR WARS #68 (-806)

It is hard to call this issue cold, yet it was in danger of falling out off the Hottest Comics rankings entirely.

This year has been the year of Star Wars. Not only did The Mandalorian awaken a dormant franchise, but virtually every Star Wars key issue absolutely exploded on the market.

For several weeks, Star Wars #68 ranked as one of the top sellers in the Star Wars world. Suddenly, it dropped by over 900 spots this week. I attribute this issue’s dramatic fall from grace to two factors. The first is the most obvious - price. With a Mandalorian on the cover, it makes sense that the value for this issue would swell. However, if collectors are going to invest their dollars, they may not want an issue with such a misleading cover. After all, Boba Fett is not in SW #68, and the guy on the cover is Fenn Shysa, not Boba.

918. DAREDEVIL #181 (-794)

This one hit me square in the heart.

As a single issue, this is perhaps my favorite comic of all time. Frank Miller, Michael Golden, and Klaus Janson were on their games in Daredevil #181, and Elektra’s “death” resonates with beautiful artwork and impressive narration from Bullseye.

All things Elektra got a quick boost after she donned the red devil costume in the latest issue of the current Daredevil run. While her first appearance is still doing well, other than being a brilliant comic book, this issue does not have a major key moment, considering that Elektra's "death" was not permanent.

859. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #194 (-784)

Collectors and investors are hot and cold when it comes to Black Cat. Then again, considering the on-again/off-again movie news, it would seem Sony Pictures is not exactly consistent with her, either.

At the moment, it would make sense for buyers to shy away from Amazing Spider-Man #194. After she and Silver Sable were getting their Spider-verse movie, the rug was pulled out from under them, and that spot was given to Silk. That does not mean Black Cat will not appear in either a Sony or Marvel Studios movie, but all is quiet on that front at the moment.

958. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #256 (-729)

Has anyone ever been excited over Puma? He originally debuted as a villain in this issue only to turn into a hero later in his comic career. Between Marvel and Sony, the studios are farming all the Spider-Man characters one by one. At this rate, just about any of Spidey’s cast of characters could be featured in a movie. While that could happen for Puma, it is hard to imagine this issue ever achieving major heights.

925. WOLVERINE #2 (-700)

How did two Frank Miller comics end up on the Coldest Comics rankings?

With all the X-Men and Wolverine MCU speculation, Wolverine #2 was a hot issue only a month ago. Clearly, the best issue of the 1982 limited series to own is the first, but it would pay to keep this comic in your collection despite buyers'  lack of interest. When Wolverine is cast for the MCU, all four issues of this series will get a jump start.
