PWCC has several classic NES games up for auction during their weekly auction -- let's take a look at a few of those, including two of the original launch titles for the NES.

In my last blog, I discussed how terrible games like Pac-Man and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 directly led to the great video game crash of 1983. The video game market in the U.S. had gotten so bad that Atari literally dumped tens of thousands of cartridges into a landfill. But by 1985, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) would arrive as the video game industry's savior.

Often described as the greatest video game console of all time, it's no surprise that sealed WATA-graded NES games are also highly sought-after collectibles.

Hogan's Alley (Nintendo NES) WATA 9.4 A+ Sealed

A major hit in arcades around the country, Hogan's Alley became, along with Duck Hunt, one of the first and most popular video games to use the Zapper for the NES. One of the 17 original launch games for the NES, players must shoot cardboard cutouts of gangsters, but take care not to accidentally shoot innocent citizens.

Item 8734 is a WATA 9.4 copy of Hogan's Alley. One of the highest graded copies in existence, the current bid was a whopping $1,825 as of Friday, April 21st. As a point of comparison, a WATA 9.0 copy received 29 bids on April 2nd and ended up selling for $164.72 on eBay.

Pinball (Nintendo NES) WATA 9.4 A Sealed

Like Hogan's Alley, Pinball was also one of the original 17 launch titles for the NES in the U.S. Pinball, a virtual pinball machine video game, also includes a bonus secret game that features Mario as a playable character who must rescue Pauline, a character who made her debut along with Mario in Donkey Kong.

As of Friday, April 21st, the current bid for item 8746, a high-grade copy of Pinball, was an astounding $1,075. As a point of comparison, a WATA 8.5 copy received 23 bids on March 11th and ended up selling for $181.50 on eBay.

Super Mario Bros. 3 (Nintendo NES) WATA 9.4 A+ Sealed

Developed by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto and released in the U.S. in 1988, Super Mario Bros. 3 is often described as one of the greatest video games of all time. It also has the distinction of being the third-best-selling NES game of all-time, with more than 17 million copies sold.

As of Friday, April 21st, the current bid for item 8759F1, a high-grade copy of Super Mario Bros. 3, was $950. As a point of comparison, a WATA 9.0 copy received 12 bids on April 16th and sold for $639 on eBay. Another WATA 9.0 copy sold for $3,500 on eBay.

Considering these recent sales on eBay, the copy up for auction on PWCC seems like a pretty good deal at the moment.
