Cartoon Art MuseumMedia Release -- The Cartoon Art Museum hosts artist Samuel Hayes on Saturday May 4, 2013 from 2 pm to 4 pm as a part of its on going Cartoon-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk to Samuel, view and buy his work. This event is free and open to the public. Samuel Hayes, currently living in Oakland, California, is an animator and illustrator.

Hayes's prowess for illustration is "like a jaguar's in the jungle," as he pounces and records on any unlucky surface. Samuel's work branches out into various mediums and digital formats but always starts from hand. Some of his influences include Max Fleischer, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and The Silver Surfer. His subject matter comes from both wild imagination and mundane everyday life. Samuel actively updates his daily sketch website and web comics, Incredible Shapes.

He's currently working on personal projects, a children's book about the adventures of a Palomino as well as creating his own comic, Young Man's Beast, a the true story of Samuel's love Affair with a Moroccan princess. After graduating from the Massachusetts College of Art, his final project, Tio, won best audience award at the Animation Block Party in Brooklyn, NY. Since then, he remains actively working on personal projects in various mediums.
