Marvel created the Young Avengers in a response to DC's much older property about another teen superhero team: the Teen Titans. Even though most collectors already know about the Teen Titans (and they currently have a pretty good TV show on HBO Max), Marvel has sucked all of the oxygen out of the room creating buying opportunities even in this seller's market. We'll talk about two of the most important key issues for the Teen Titans below. Both of these issues have experienced a decline in value in recent years.

Driven by the MCU, the Young Avengers have captured the minds of comic book collectors. Cassie Lang (Stature), Billy Kaplan (Wiccan), and Tommy Shepherd (Speed) have already appeared in the MCU, and Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) will appear later this year in Hawkeye. Not surprisingly, Young Avengers #1 has become one of the hottest books of the past year. Specifically, during the past year, a CGC 9.8 copy of this book has risen by nearly 80%. I typically recommend staying away from hot books, but I think most people agree that this book will likely continue to climb. It has multiple first appearances and will get another boost once Marvel confirms a Young Avengers movie or Disney+ series.

The Brave and the Bold #54: 1st Appearance of the Teen Titans

DC came up with the idea for a teen superhero WAY before Marvel; in fact, a teen superhero team consisting of Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqua Lad first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #54 in 1964. In a high grade, this book is exceedingly rare. For example, CGC has graded only ONE copy of this issue at 9.8.

As I mentioned above, this book's value has declined in recent years. Specifically, the value of CGC 9.4 copies of this book has dropped nearly 22% over the past three years. This is remarkable considering the following two factors: (1) this is a major Silver Age key; and (2) we are in a seller's market. If you can afford this book, this could be a good time to buy the dip.

The Brave and the Bold #60: 1st Appearance of Wonder Girl

The Brave and the Bold #60 is the second most important key issue for the Teen Titans. Not only does this issue contain the second appearance of the team, but this is also the first time DC uses the name the "Teen Titans" (prominently displayed on the comic's cover). Furthermore, this issue contains the first appearance of Donna Troy, aka Wonder Girl. She joins the team in this issue.

Like Brave and the Bold #54, this book's value has also dropped in recent years. It has dropped in almost every single grade except in 9.0 and 3.5. CGC 5.0 copies of this book have dropped by nearly 21% since 2018. Because it's a Silver Age key, it's still not cheap, but again, this could be a buying opportunity if you can afford it.
