Even though Momoa has established Aquaman in mainstream pop culture, his major keys still face headwinds among collectors. We'll discuss three major Aquaman keys below that have dramatically underperformed the rest of the market. It could be a good time to buy the dip?

Jason Momoa achieved what many would've thought impossible: he made Aquaman cool. And more importantly, for Warner Bros., Momoa made Aquaman DC's most bankable star. Shockingly, Aquaman made $1.1 billion at the box office, the 20th highest-grossing film of all time, and the highest-grossing film based on a DC character. This is a remarkable achievement. considering DC owns three of the most iconic characters of all time: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. His take on Aquaman also recently took a star turn on Zack Snyder's Justice League released last month.

Aquaman #29: 1st Appearance of Orm

This Silver Age book contains the first appearance of Orm and Aquaman's half-brother. Played by Patrick Wilson, Orm serves as the primary antagonist in the film.

During the past three years, Aquaman #29 has dropped in almost all grades. For example, CGC 7.5 copies of this book dropped by nearly 32% during this period of time. Just prior to the release of Aquaman, a 7.5 sold for $400 on eBay. Just 16 months later, a 7.5 sold for only $176.50 on eBay. Since then, prices crept back up, but they are still way below their late 2018 highs.

Aquaman #35: 1st Appearance of Black Manta

This Silver Age key contains the first appearance of Black Manta, one of Aquaman's greatest nemeses. The movie featured Black Manta prominently, told his origin story, and set him up to one of the primary villains in its sequel.

During the past three years, Aquaman #35 has dropped in virtually all grades. For example, CGC 5.5 copies of this book (a respectable grade for a 54-year-old book), dropped by nearly 20% during this period of time. Just a couple of months prior to the release of Aquaman, a 5.5 sold for $460 on eBay. A year later, a 5.5 sold for $169.50 on eBay. Like Aquaman #29, prices have increased since then, but they are still far below their 2018 highs.

Brave & The Bold #73: 1st Appearance of Vulko

Brave & The Bold #73 contains the first appearance of Vulko, Aquaman's mentor and long-time counselor. Played by Willem Dafoe, Vulko appears in Justice League and plays a major role as a surrogate father to Arthur in Aquaman.

To me, this Silver Age book is WAY undervalued. So few copies of this book have exchanged hands that GoCollect is unable to calculate its FMV. In addition, according to the CGC Census, few graded copies of this book exist. In spite of it's rarity and Vulko's prominent role in the films, raw, mid-grade copies of this book have sold for less than TEN dollars. In January, the winning bid for one raw copy, estimated to be a 6.5, was $3.95. To me, that's a steal.
