Curse #1 (Of 4)(Cover A Riley Rossmo)Media Release -- In conjunction with the release of the new comic book CURSE by BOOM! Studios, Aw Yeah comic book store in Skokie, Illinois will be hosting a Hero Initiative membership party, Saturday, January 25 at 6 p.m. All proceeds from the membership drive will benefit Hero, the non-profit organization that aids comic creators in need.

Aw Yeah, located at 4933 Oakton Street, will host a party with food, drink, and much more! When attendees sign up to become a Hero Initiative member, they will receive a free copy of CURSE #1 signed by co-writer Michael Moreci (HOAX HUNTERS), who will be in attendance, as well as entry into the party (21 and over only, please). CURSE is written by MoreciTim Daniel (ENORMOUS), and illustrated by Colin Lorimer (UXB) and Riley Rossmo (DRUMHELLAR). Fans are in store for a smart, realistic, and haunting read.

CURSE is a story about Laney Griffin, a man who will do anything to save his son from leukemia, but the cost of treatment has broken him financially. When he pursues an elusive murderer in the wilderness of his small, rural community in the hopes of securing a substantial bounty, Laney is confronted with something he never could have expected: a werewolf. The captive lycan, in human form, turns Laney's life upside-down, forcing him to confront his haunted past and race against the clock—because the wolf will return, and Laney's son's condition continues to worsen. CURSE is a story of a family's survival at all costs.

In addition, BOOM! Studios has donated free comics to be given away at the event on a first come, first served basis! Titles include HIT, 2 GUNS, FREELANCERS, CLIVE BARKER'S HELLRAISER, HIGHER EARTH, and DEATHMATCH.
Don't miss out!

About The Hero Initiative

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterday's creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Since its inception, The Hero Initiative has had the good fortune to grant over $500,000 to the comic book veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today. For more information, visit www.heroinitiative.org or call 626-676-6354.
