THE MIDAS FLESH #1 second printMedia Release -- BOOM! Studios is thrilled to announce that the first title to launch under its new BOOM! Box imprint, THE MIDAS FLESH #1 [from writer Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics) and ADVENTURE TIME artists Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb], has sold out at the distributor level. The publisher has rushed to a second printing in support of this debut series. News of the sellout comes on the heels of last week's announcement of the second BOOM! Box series, LUMBERJANES.

Comic book fans should bear in mind that first printings of THE MIDAS FLESH #1 may still be found at the local comic shop nearest you. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one!

"It is very gratifying to see that retailers and fans have gotten behind THE MIDAS FLESH," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. "As the first BOOM! Box title out of the gate, we're excited to see it got our new imprint off to an auspicious start. Congratulations to Ryan, Shelli, and Braden on a great beginning to this fantastic series!"

WHY WE LOVE IT: We have been having so much fun with writer Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics, To Be Or Not To Be: That Is The Adventure) on ADVENTURE TIME that we couldn't resist the opportunity to publish a new original idea of his. And it is original.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT: We've all heard of The Midas touch. You know, the Greek Myth about the man who did a number on himself by wishing for everything he touched to turn to gold? Who better to turn that tale on its head with a heavy dose of sci-fi than Ryan North? Also, did we mention the Utahraptor?

WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Fatima and her space crew have decided to return to Earth—a planet completely sectioned off, abandoned, and covered in gold—to find out exactly what happened to this once thriving planet and see if they can use that knowledge against the evil empire that's tracking them down. As luck would have it, they just landed the most powerful weapon in the universe: some ancient dead guy's body.

Praise for THE MIDAS FLESH #1:

"...a humorously modernized fable intertwined with an apparent space opera that happens to feature a Utahraptor." – Comic Book Resources

"…an intriguing opening chapter to what should be an interesting tale, and I'm definitely going to be sticking around to see what happens next." – Big Comic Page

"Well done all around, I'm on board to see where North will be taking us in the remainder of the series!" – Comic Spectrum

"THE MIDAS FLESH is a fun, sci-fi adventure with a light-hearted tone despite some high stakes. The characters are cool and the illustration is excellent." – The Outhousers

THE MIDAS FLESH #1 second print ships with a new cover by Jess Fink and carries a retail price of $3.99 with a Diamond Code of NOV138232. It is anticipated to be in stores on February 19, 2014.
