Nearly three-fourths of the $50,000 goal had been raised when the first of the four auctions of original art from artists Jim Lee, Travis Charest, George Perez and others ended last week. The auction raised $34,459, with more than a third of that amount coming from the sale of an original drawing by comic artist Jim Lee that will depict Superman with the top bidder.

Auction organizers want to replace the roof and siding on the former Siegel house at 10622 Kimberly Ave. in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood.

The money from the other auctions that exceeds the $50,000 goal will be used to fix up the home's interior. That would include plastering the damaged walls, fixing the windows and repairing problems caused by a leaky roof, said Richard Pace, chairman of the Siegel and Shuster Society.
