THIS VALENTINE’S DAY, GET CAUGHT UP IN SOME ROMANTIC COMPLICATIONS, COURTESY OF ARCHIE COMICS!

Archie Comics have always been known for having a high quotient of “romance” in their stories, whether the issue comes out on Valentine’s Day or in the heat of summer. But this February, we’re serving up a trio of intriguing tales that show what a tangled web ‘ol cupid can weave!

JUGHEAD & FRIENDS DIGEST #18 “Cousin Calamity!”: Look out guys, Reggie’s cousin Regina is in town, and she’s a knockout. Every guy in town is looking to get a date with her, but being as devious and mischievous as Reggie, she soon makes fools of them with one practical joke after another! All except one: Jughead. Can Regina fool Jughead with one of her patented gags? Can their respect for each other’s skills lead to a possible romance for the crowned one?!

SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH #83 “Batty Bartholomew”: Sabrina decides to return to magic, and just to make sure she does, her aunts find an ancient wizard to tutor her. The only problem is, he’s beyond rusty and seems more than a little wacky. Or is he? Meanwhile, Llandra has no interest in reconciling with Sabrina, but Shinji is hoping he and Sabrina can put their differences aside so Sabrina will rejoin the Four Blades. On the human side of things, Sabrina laments the fact that her new relationship with Harvey can’t be as “normal” as she hoped – once again, she has to hide her magic abilities!

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG #172 “Truth of the Heart”: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we ramp up the romantic intrigue… but don’t worry, as always the stakes are high in the world of Sonic! As more of Fiona Fox’s mysterious past is revealed, Sonic must face shocking secrets that will leave him torn between his new girlfriend and the friends he has loved and fought for all these years. Not only that, but one of her revelations sets off a series of events that will lead to one of the most senses-shattering cliffhangers in years! Which of Sonic’s allies will be pushed to the brink? This is one issue you won’t want to miss!

Meet Archie Comics’ Craig Boldman at the Mid-Ohio-Con the Weekend!

Mid-Ohio-Con, Ohio’s largest and longest-running comic book and pop culture collectors show, is slated for this weekend, November 25 & 26, Columbus Convention Center, 400 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215 (614)431-3600.

Archie Comics’ Craig Boldman will be at booth #414, the National Cartoonists Society booth, where he will be keeping company with a number of fine cartoonists from the fields of syndicated strips, editorial cartoons, and book illustration. Craig will have 250 Jughead comics to sign and hand out to Jughead fans, and he is looking forward to meeting Archie Comics readers.

On Sunday at 1:00 pm, he will be moderating the National Cartoonists Society panel in room B. Founded in 1946, the venerable professional cartoonist organization has a thriving chapter in the Great Lakes region. Meet a bunch of its members who do syndicated strips, editorial cartoons, comics, books, advertising and more. Find out what they’re up to and what the organization is all about. On the docket: Tony Cochran (Agnes), Roy Doty (Wordless Workshop, recipient of NCS Illustrator of the Year Award for 2006), Steve Boreman (Little Dog Lost, launching in 2007), Terri Libenson (Pajama Diaries), Jeff Stahler (editorial cartoonist, Columbus Dispatch), Matt Feazell (Disney Adventures), Daryll Collins (Sports Illustrated for Kids), and host/moderator Craig Boldman (Archie).
Craig hope Archie fans will attend, soak up the combined wisdom from the mighty assemblage of cartoonists, and ask questions about Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, etc. And maybe ask the other guys some questions too.
