ApocalypseThe build for the X-Men Apocalypse movie in 2016 was tremendous. It rebooted the X-Men universe with X-Men: First Class in 2011 and X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014. Unfortunately, the movie starring the mutant, Apocalypse came into theaters with bad reviews from movie critics. The movie itself did well, making $543 million worldwide on a $178 million budget. Though, I am not sure if the movie itself was a profit for Fox Studios. Last year, Marvel acquired back their mutant properties, i.e. X-Men, Deadpool, and more. The question now is, it too early to reintroduce Apocalypse back into the MCU?

The Connection:

Apocalypse Rumors are spiraling on who will be the next big bad in the MCU. The build-up to Thanos during Infinity Saga was unbelievable. As we moved to the next phases of the MCU, there will be more villains to introduce. A strong choice is Kang the Conqueror. Kang is a very complicated character. He is a time traveler villain that is known by different personas. Depending on the place in time, he is referred to by a different name. For many fans, he is known as Nathaniel Richards, the son of Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman.  Or, for this blog, he also goes by Pharaoh Rama-Tut.

Richards travels back to ancient Greece to become Pharaoh Rama-Tut. His first appearance of this character in Fantastic Four #19. The connection of the Pharoah to Apocalypse is made here. The four-issue limited series titled the Rise of Apocalypse details Pharaoh Rama-Tut (Kang the Conqueror) preparing an heir to the throne. The individual he chose is a child named En Sabah Nur. He would tell his child that he was destined for greater things. En Sabah Nur also goes by another name, Apocalypse, who ends up becoming one of the most powerful mutants in history.

Apocalypse Key issues:

It might not take long to erase the recent X-Men movie that was made by Fox. We could get a glimpse of Kang appearing in the Disney+ TV series, Loki. Anyways, the important key issues for Apocalypse is in the X-Factor series. X-Factor #5. It is his first cameo appearance and X-Factor #6 is considered the first full appearance of the character. The issue which details the origin of the character can be found in the Rise of the Apocalypse #1. With the recent failure of this movie done by Fox, this marks a good chance to grab the book while it is low. Remember, the best time to grab a book is when there is no noise, but a connection like this appealing.

Closing:

There is no doubt that the Fantastic Four is coming to the MCU. With them, they bring along the allies and villains that come with the "First Family of Marvel". I believe Franklin Richards will be introduced in the MCU in the near future. His time-traveling ability along with his different alias present so many storylines for Marvel. I believe Marvel wants to correct the character Apocalypse and give him his due. He was misrepresented badly by Fox and the movie did show what he was fully capable of. Being an omega-level mutant and one of the most powerful mutant villains, Apocalypse is a great choice to bring to the MCU.
